  1. Supposed to be coming in bad tonight and next few days around your way Yaffle, bbc said possibly worse than what we have had!! Did you see the bridge at Sturminster got shut a couple of weeks ago cos of the floods? Never known it that high.
  2. One of the bolts in the head has snapped on my vario 2000, any idea where I could get a replacement? Having a bit of bother with supplier as it appears Helco may be going into administration. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Fiskars x25 and x27 please?
  3. I agree somewhat with what you are saying, though would you not say it is more dangerous for the L/R driver than it was for the tractor driver? Also the L/R driver may well have known that road very well but when it is under water like that it is incredibly easy to become slightly disorientated, much like being in a smoke filled house.
  4. Nice kit. I hope you put a good chunk of money on that job.
  5. Sorry, that was not supposed to be posted on your post johnnyboxer, it was meant as a post of its own.
  6. Depends if it is personal loan or business loan and each finance company will have their own terms and conditions. VAT is usually paid up front. With business finance you will often have to settle the outstanding bill as they technically own the machine until it is paid off. Sometimes you can novate the finance to a new buyer if they pass the relevant credit checks etc etc. As has been said, check your terms and conditions before you sign.
  7. Too true jon, not sure about the old bill though, its not crime of the century, unless of course they assault you. Happy New Year mate, I will give you a shout in the next few weeks, whats the boozer like in Coleford?
  8. Looks like a good bit of kit. Where can you order these from?
  9. We will often walk people (especially oap's where a diversion is a major hinderance) through the site with immediate supervision. I understand that this is not practical on a busy site. You must as a team be well aware of your surroundings (incl. climbers) and be prepared to temporarily cease work should a member of public enter your work zone. It should never need to come to physically touching let alone restraining someone. As soon as you even touch a member of the public you could well be opening a whole can of worms.
  10. i would certainly hold out for a tipper. they come along thick and fast on ebay etc. i would try and save another £500-£1000 and you can get a nice tipper for that.
  11. I assure you that you will not be disappointed Paul. I prefer the Lakes through the winter, in the summer it takes sooo long to get anywhere cos of the amount of tourist traffic. That may sound odd, but it really is bad (not moaning, just saying) I'm sure Hodge will vouch for this. And as you say Paul, the snow capped mountains on a fresh clear morning are something else.
  12. Just caught up on your thread Paul and see you're back in Durham. Shame you missed the falls. Anyone who enjoys trees would like that walk, there are so many different spp and fine examples too.
  13. i used to live in Sockbridge/Tirril about 3 miles up the road from Pooley Bridge. Have you been to Eira Force at the other end of Ullswater Yaffle? Well worth a look if you are that way, a beautiful waterfall and probably the biggest Sitka spruce in the country.
  14. i must admit it would at times be very handy if you could tow more than 1 trailer.
  15. We give a 10 sec warning on the pa system, then out come the water canons!!
  16. There is a arb company round our way called 'The Tree musketeer's'.
  17. How are you getting on with the harness now 8 months on Adam, still happy with it? I am in the market for a harness and don't want anything too fancy.
  18. After you have put them on and have worked in them for 5 mins or so, give them another tighten.
  19. Hand an inch or 2 from ms200 exhaust and then rev......ahhhh, lush on a cold day!!! Please do not do unless you have the relevant certification
  20. That Nissan patrol looks tiny in comparison.
  21. I often run a 24" bar on my 575 and have no problems, in fact I find it pulls it real nice.
  22. But there are loads and loads of 'us' Andy. And there are an awful lot of traveller and gypsy types that carry out our type of work. So I can believe a lot of this stolen kit is being used daily in our very own country. I'm sure too that some does end up at the docks and then overseas, but I think a great deal of it does stay here in the UK.
  23. Some very interesting points made in this thread and links. If there were no thieves, there would be no need for keys!! How easy would life be then!!
