  1. I have a reasonably large overgrown fig tree to reduce, when would be the best time of year to carry out this work? From memory am I right in thinking these can be reduced quite hard, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, marc.
  2. As well as record heights, dbh etc, you could perhaps have height dbh that they usually grow to. Are the characteristics of young trees different to mature trees?
  3. I've got no problem whatsoever with removing dangerous trees in public areas, but in this case I think there were other alternatives. Perhaps fenced off to just beyond the drip line.

  7. What are the lug winches, has anyone any photos? What sort of pulling force have they? I think tirfor winches are superb for the right job. Not bad for pulling your motor out if you get stuck.

  11. Generally speaking, wood that is good for firewood is good for charcoal. We have not had great success with chestnut though.
  12. Top work James. Getting better and better with the crane work. If I could get that price for a crane round here I would use one more often. Last time was best part of £800.

  15. you will do well to get a ton of wood in there! That's a fair amount of log sales you are doing by the way. Are you doing that full time, with a processor?
  16. Ah is this on ground only? in that case 550 or 560, probably 560 cos is just bloody awesome. 254 was a good shout though, could be tempted.

  18. About 20 years ago I was part of a team that pruned the street trees in Bournemouth. From several days before we would leave No Parking Cones out. People would still leave their cars there. We would move them by several of us lifting the back ends and wheeling them out the way. Sometimes left them on double yellows!
