  1. I use a compressor. They are farely cheap to buy now tbh. Places like Aldi and ldle sell them all the time cheap. That and used with a carb cleaner works a real treat. Just be carefull when blowing into the chain cover area. And unde the pull start assembly. I've spent plenty of time spitting bits of crud out of my mouth before.
  2. It would be good to hear from a dealer about this. And the whole is it a stihl thing or are all the makers doing it? I know of a few other makes of top handle that require nothing so maybe it is a stihl thing.
  3. Yeah I usually have no problem by hand. Exept when doing the 088 and 108 links about three times today. The chains where wrecked so it was a case of get them sharp to cut the timber and wait for the hidden suprise to be found. Then back to sharpen. My hand was cramped into the shape of the file.
  4. Looking into the price of the steel. Last time I looked Parker steel was 90 odd quid for box section 1 inch and 2mm thick. Plus vat. Then there is the time it takes to manufacture one. So it's a day of work. And if you pay a worker like me for instance to make you one here is a day rate to pay. Then there is buying the axle and wheels. Then there is the design to consider, ok so looking at a pic and copying one may look easy but there is a lot more to it than that. My thoughts have been that unless you are making something tailored to your own needs its just as simple and a lot more less work to just buy one and get on with working. And if it breaks it goes back and get repaired free.
  5. Wow. None has ever used one??? Guess I might be the first to try and give some reviews then?
  6. I've been getting that. Gets very confusing. I don't think it's a new post that has been made rather the old post saying you havnt read it.
  7. Reminds me of something I made a while ago.
  8. So after having to sharpen lots of saws by hand countless times today. (Nasty trunk work with a few hidden suprises inside it!) I got completely fed up with hand sharpening and so did my hand. Talking about an 088 with big bar. 048av with big bar. And a few 034 chains. Does anyone use one of these or similar? I know there are a few cheap makes out there. Just after a few opinions and any reviews about them. How long they last. Oregon Sure Sharp electric grinder | F R Jones and Son
  9. So a lot like the completely free iCloud then????
  10. Not cars but I see a lot of people trying to cross the road just as I have gone past then see them do a jump back when they see it.
  11. Bonfire. There is nothing wrong with using petrol to start a bonfire. It's waste oil that cannot be burnt and must be disposed of in an acceptable recycling centre.
  12. To get the pictures up. When replying go advanced and then scroll down to the part at the bottom that says manage attachments, form there select upload file.
  13. I've just had a cracking idea. How about swapping the barrow for an arbo trolley???? Now that would work. Where's my toolbox.....
  14. Why won't he give you your saw back???? It's your saw!
  15. Everyone I've spoken too about this has had the same opinion. I've spoken to a few tree hungers down the lifeboat and a few that have trees in there garden most are ash. They asked me what the signs where so I told them. They didn't seem to mind about it and the general consensuse was that if someone turned up saying there trees had chalala (however its spelt) they will get a rofessional in to survey the tree and ensure it or write the comments off before they had any work done. Sensible IMO. Joe public can go and get a saw for all I care and when they get hurt its there own stupid fault. I would like to think that an insurance company would be ale to tell the professional from the monkey.
  16. Chances are if it smells fishy it probably is. This stinks of week old haddock. It's too shiny to be sat around for ages.... As spud has said a grey import.
  17. So I take it you already have the trailer. Why not just get a trailer that is built for taking the digger??? Plant trailer etc. In my experience using an ifor Williams with a digger on towed by a tractor didn't work out too well. Caused all sorts of problems for me when I worked on a farm. Plus going off road just meant the trailer got bogged down.
  18. I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem on a sequoia. I also find hat the wide part of the legs straps also doesn't feel long enough to go all the way round. Have found after a while I have to re adjust them round my legs and try to ease some pressure or I end up with pins and needles.
  19. Haha I was waiting for that. By the way here is a really nice close up pic of the hilux behind the landy. Sorry d a tree surgeons (dave) but I have to post this pic if you are looking at this thread.
  20. Yeh ok diff you have mastered the technology, now stop posting pictures of your crappy vans. Here is a pic of a real working tool.:th
  21. Landy wouldn't start this morning. Ran the batt flat. Got it going with a jump start. Took forever. Went to workshop and took the glow plugs out. They no worky. 45quid for some new bosh ones.
  22. T shirt turned up this morning. Thank you Steve. Liking the chainsaw design. A nice stihl on it. Well get some pics up once it has been through the wash as I can't wear new clothes until they have been washed. Don't like the feel of them.
  23. Hmm this one has me stumped a bit. Usually the checks that have been made will bring up any problems. Are all the pipes in good nick, none split or holed? Does it run when turned a certain way? You said you have done a pressure test on it, did it come out ok as I'm lost in you saying no joy? Des this mean no leaks? I will have a look at one and see if anything jumps out that could be causing your problems. It's ound alike there is too much fuel getting through the carb. If the exhaust is getting wet. But the only thing causing that could be the metering valve, you said it was checked? Is the air filter getting soaked aswell when the trimmer is left?
  24. Just looked at the map. Seems there are a few down my way. Wounder if they are nursery s or woodlands. Doesn't specify if they are or not. There's some good info in that site aswell.
