  1. What about a hook lift trailer, with a z fold crane on? With a couple of different bodies it might be able go do away with some of your other trailers, to help off set some the initial cost?
  2. Has your unimog got an accumulator in the hydraulic piping for the 3 point linkage? If it hasn't it might be worth looking in to it, as it will give a shock absorber effect to the linkage. On mine the accumulator is mounted on the x frame, on the near side, about 120mm diameter with a flat top, and domed bottom with a single hydraulic hose going to a t piece in the lift circuit.
  3. Unless the is a short in the harness, it is unlikely to burn out the alternator. To check if you've got a short, make sure all electrics are turned off, disconnect the battery negative terminal and put a test lamp between the battery negative and the terminal on the lead or chassis, and give the harness a good shake and a bit of a pull and pushing, watching the lamp to see if its lights. Light equals a short, the area of the harness you where moving when the light comes on is a good place to look for a fault.
  4. Did you check the voltage on the charge light wire from the machine? you need power on that to start the alternator charging. The charge light earths through the alternator, via the small terminal. Once the alternator charge voltage equals the battery voltage the light goes out, as the light cant earth through the alternator.
  5. When you reconnected the battery, or the wires if working live, did you get a spark? Most times when connecting the battery you will get a tiny spark/ crackle from things drawing current, interior light, radio, volt dropper, tacho if wagon, but a noticeable spark would point to a current draw, if nothing is on, there is a good chance of a fault.
  6. They could be delivering pallets of compost to the store, using the walking floor trailer to move the pallets to the back, so a fork lift can unload them. I mate of mine works for them, and was saying some of the work is like that. They carry compost in both bulk and pallet, as well as tin of beans, and a lot of other stuff on pallets.
  7. Top job there mr village idiot, Cant wait for season 2, of the story at bedtime:thumbup:
  8. I was just thinking the same, the ebay user name looks familiar.
  9. Other thing to consider is, depending how keen the people your working for, motorway? they may insist the lamps are an, ECE regulation 65 complainant lamp, most of the cheaper leds don't meet this standard, the ones that do meet this are a lot more expensive for no noticeable difference.
  10. There is a green waste tip the other side of Chester , cotton abbotts farm waverton, next to where the Crocky Trail is. I`ll have to look to see if I've got a number for them. May be able to help you with the timber.
  11. I've got a turner hedge cutter made at the greenmech factory, still in use and going strong, I`ve owned it for about 19years now.
  12. I was looking at the specs on different machines a couple of weeks back, and the neuson ticked all the boxes for me, a bloke I worked with years ago demoed one probably about 1999/2000 and was impressed with it. No experience of the current models but CAT sell them badge engineered as their own, up to 2.7 / 3 ton so can't be too bad.
  13. I think stihl pro saws have a white top to the rear handle, could be wrong, wont be the first time:biggrin:
  14. I would say yes, live and not insulated. Contact power supplier I would guess they would turn that off at no cost, as it would be in their interest, to save a call out, at a later date.
  15. That's correct Jon
  16. A suitable operating centre? A crane operators card, or certificate, A loler test on crane, older cranes every 6 months now, so I've been told. A professional CPC, not the drives one if operating for hire and reward.
  17. Just going back to the `black mark` points a few post back, the DVSA use a points and colour coding system, to use as a guide when choosing which vehicles to stop. They call it OCRS operator compliance risk score. Vehicle operators are given a score based on mot test results, and roadside checks. A score of 0 is coloured green, going to red for scores over 26/31. In an ideal work if you have a green score you show be less likely to be stopped than having a red score. https://www.gov.uk/use-the-operator-compliance-risk-score-ocrs-system

    My accident

    Best wishes in your recovery.
  19. Hope you had a good day Paul
  20. Make sure the front diff sounds sweet, I know of one that needed the diff rebuilding after a contractor used it to load himself, spreading muck, and was a bit heavy handed shuttling back and forwards. The parts where quite expensive and had to be ordered in, not on the shelf. The other thing, but applys to all machines is see if its had a squirt of grease around it, especially the head stock. Over all a powerful machine, and quite good build quality, maybe a touch heavy if your planning on going across peoples lawns.
  21. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery,
  22. I have a pair of Francital trousers, in orange and they've got GO-RT class on them.
  23. My 3.2 ranger, with MT tyres, shows 26.7mpg at the minute (on the dash) been a mix of short runs, less than 10miles, and a bit of towing. On the rare occasion I go further away and get a decent run 30-32mpg. A couple of times I`ve worked out the fuel its not been far off the dash. The MT tyres have made the most difference on longer runs.
  24. I use petzl am`d ball lock ovals, a real snug fit in the rubber part of zigzag2, I would think they would be unlikely to turn and cross load.
  25. Craig.

    I am back

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
