  1. Paul, VOSA web site, or call them up I`ve aways found them help full on phone. You`ll still to apply for the licence, news paper ad, some where you propose to operate from, proof of financial standing, exmaples of inpection sheets, and so on even though its a restricted licence.
  2. Your not restricted on mileage on a restricted O licence, you could go international if you wanted. No operators cpc needed, drivers cpc not likely for arb work. Doing your own inspections and maintanence OK if you have the skills and equipment to do so.
  3. JCB 520-50, well proven running gear same as 2cx, and airmaster, 4speed and shuttle, manual hydraulics a joystick and aux lever, only electric control is the park brake. The 520-40 are hydrostatic so as you say a bit revvy.
  4. I see you`ve crossed pulsarail off your list, for any one else thinking of one, mine leaked from day one, very tight knitted cuffs, then the kip broke. It was a yellow one with red stripes for trunk road work, dont know if the orange ones are any better? Wont buy an other one.
  5. travel lodge for us as well, booked 5-6 weeks ago and it was quite full then.
  6. 600mm signs can only be used on single carriageway`s 30mph or less, 750mm signs on all other speeds of single carriageway, and dual carriageway up to 40mph, 50mph and over, 1200mm signs. Not sure of suppiler in yorkshire, you could try manchester safety (i think thats what they are called), over here, north wales we use brookes tarpaulins, in penmaenmawr, dont know wether they would parcel them.
  7. I`m not liverpool based, but north wales so about a hour away. 20TM crane on flatbed/plant wagon not sure if it`s what you want but I`ll pm you my number.
  8. Should be OK as long as the trailer is sensible for the tractor, 2wd will make it handy in a tight spot.
  9. Dual power is like a splitter gear, you can change up or down on the move with no clutch, if it slips when you change it could mean hydraulic problems or worn clutch packs in the dual power unit. The operating switch could be on the floor a small round peddle between clutch and brake, or some times moved and Retro fitted to gear stick as a flick switch, don't think 7700' s had them on the dash like other models but could be wrong
  10. As above but check for water in the oil, may have famous ford porous block, replacement blocks are starting to get a bit scarce. If it's got dual power check its sharp ish to change as well.
  11. Vapormatic paint is quite good, and comes in most common tractor and implement colours, and a good colour match from one batch to the next so good if you want to touch up at a later date, dont know who online but plenty of stockists, so one must sell on line! Not sure what type of paint it is, possable synthetic enamal, I used synthetic thinners and went on nice. Sprays and brushes on.
  12. When I renewed my waste carriers licence a couple of months ago there was some thing on the reminder letter that came, about some changes, that arb waste and garden green waste would`nt need a carriers licence, if I remember right. I`ll try and dig it out later to look again. Dont know if that was just carrying waste, or if you charge to remove it (directly).
  13. An other vote for husky 372xp here, thinking about buying an other one to keep as a spare while you still can, 346xp close 2nd.
  14. I got info from, safety at street works and road works, a code of practice. ISBN 978-0-11-551958-1, £7.50. I think it was called the purple book, the blue book is every thing, sign specs, road marking, etc, ifirc.
  15. If your using traffic control your lead in taper can be at 45°, with the cones 1.2m apart, then the cones down the job Max of 9m apart with a min of 2 used and then a exit taper. If your not using traffic control ie enough room for both lanes of traffic to pass still it depends on the width of your closure to length of taper and number of cones, 31 to 40 mph single carriage way 1m wide 20m taper 4 cones, 2m wide 40m taper 6 cones on so on. All exit tapers 45° and 1.2m spacing.
  16. Max spacing of 9m between cones, min of 2 cones between the tapers.
  17. It just about sums it up the govement/people in charge put 2 difference but close related qualifications with the same name just to confuse us all.
  18. The driver cpc will be needed if you drive professionally, wether the truck is on a restricted, standard national, or international o licence. If your delivering goods, you own or some one else your classed as professional driving, the exemptions are if you when you drive its incidental, not part of your job as such, driving the truck to site with the kit on then back at night. On dcpc courses the example they give are scalfolders driving to site then putting scafold up, but driving to site dropping the scafold off and not putting it up, would need a dcpc.
  19. As stated above NO operator cpc needed on restricted o licence, driver cpc (dcpc) needed after sept 2014 if you want to drive commercialy, what i`ve read you wont lose your heavy goods licence after that date just not able to drive commercialy, there will be certian exemptions to dcpc. Again cant be 100% sure but driving say a large (3.5t+) chip truck to site doing tree work for the day then taking truck and chips back to yard should be ok with no dcpc, but using the same truck and delivering a load of logs you`ve sold would need a dcpc. I`ll try and dig out where i`ve read about exemptions and post a link for reference.
  20. You should be able to insure it using the serial number of the machine, I know nfu accepted serial number on my excavator.
