    Quoted Figs from respective manufactures ...power head only ... 660 7.5KG 390 7.1KG so not much in it really , Stihl a tad heavier.....

  3. Not tried a 555 but do have a 560 ( 2011 saw ) After initial teething probs back then it has been a stonker . Best 60cc saw I ever owned .

    I have a ported 390 also . Spud did it a couple of years ago still going strong .

  7. I go for a good 2nd hand Husqvarna 372 ( pre X torque ) Just me ....

  11. I fitted the cable tie in direct line with the tool strop eye as well

  13. Notice how the "thin" tyres cut through the slop on the surface to grip on the hard below rather than " float " like a modern "wide" tyre .
  14. I recon Meindle Airstreems would come out top in a poll for all round work . Strides is a bit more varied . I like the Pfanners but type A only.

  16. Its not compression and extension along the axis of the coils thats the problem . Its excessive movement between the two halves of the saw body caused by dropping the saw on its strop which tends to bend the spring at right angles ( see my last pic ) . The cable tie is limiting the movement of the two halves of the saw ( in opposite directions ) without stopping the spring compressing or extending through the normal working range...
