  1. I think that some of the loss of Hedgehogs is down to the number of game birds that are released on commercial shoots ( saying this as an ex game keeper ) . pheasants eat what Hedgehogs do so there is less food for them . Badgers also predate them .

    It only rocks from side to side if you push it with your finger in fresh air . The reality is it picks a side for what ever reason and stays there causing it to do what bill has described .
  3. I have found that in the past people in this sort of position think Wow look at all the fire wood I am getting . Then asking the tree surgeon cut and split and stack etc etc . The extra cost on the job for the client to have this done is about the price of 3 loads of split and seasoned logs from the local log merchant .

    I don't do it every sharpen but , say every 10 sharpens just to even out the ware . . Dressing it first obviously .

  13. links are not a standard size . Different pitch chains have different size components . different widths ( gauge )

  15. I had one and it got too big ( touching the gutter of the house ) so felled it . Great fire wood and looked/felt strong . Within a couple of years the stump had coppiced and was well over head height .

  20. As above basically . The only way to tell hours used ( unless you know the history of the saw and its user ) is if its an auto tune saw which can be plugged in and will give you the hours used , time at idle time flat out etc etc .
