  1. Sorry to hear you are suffering Dave , not a lot of fun . I have a body full of aches and pains ( wifes horse kicked me just lately just to add to it ! ) As you rightly say a well sharpened chain can make up for any amount of cc deficiency . I am a Husqvarna man through and through ( save for my ms 200t ) but there are other saws out there that would fit your needs I am sure . I recently sold an Oleo-Mac which I bought as a stop gap whilst others were in the shop . Although it was a plastic engine case type saw i was quite surprised with its performance . It was also very light . good luck mate . Regards Andy .
  2. What about redirecting the exhaust ? In otherwords design it better . A bit of muffler modification . Just a thought .
  3. Thats what a Husky 390 does . !
  4. I would second what spud says as I have experience of both the saws he mentioned . Not had any dealings with a 236 but assuming its 36cc would seem a little weedy , perhaps ?
  5. Husqvarna all day long matey ! opps here we go again !
  6. Could be sycamore . That is whitish on the cut face seasons quickly and splits easily . In fact it is one of my favorites
  7. .166 on a single sheep but not on all 5 yet . however my son who is an x box loony got a best of .117 and everything else was better than mine . Like shooting skeet a bit !
  8. Hi . I have run some .404 semi skip chains on a Husqvarna 395 36" bar and the same on a 3120 with a 42" bar . These chains came with the saws which I bought from a buddie in Canada . They were set up like this for cutting big soft wood . On one the rakers were practicly filed right off making it very agressive . Apart from all the reasons stated before , chip clearence , less drag etc etc I think it also depends on the type of wood . Soft wood being a softer cut than say holme oak ? What I am saying it might not be a benifit in all circumstanses perhaps . p.s. sorry about the crap spelling !
  9. Is this ever going to be fin-ished ?
  10. Yea tha'ts a goodun got to be wrapped in the angling times though .
  11. Once again, all wood if seasoned and dry will burn . That includes pop, willow, lime and all the other so called " avoid " woods . If you have the facility to split , store and stack in a covered but well ventilated store you are ahead of the game .
  12. eel be real-y pissed off now by all you crabby buggers . This line seems to have hooked a good bag !

    boys day out

Was dissapointed with the 346XP as it revved well in the cut but wasn't digging in as it should, I have found the bar rails were a little splayed so have closed them up and sharpened up the chain, should work a lot better now. Steve. Don't forget to try your 346 with a shortish bar 13" or 15" and an 8 pin . The one you did for me works well like that . Razor sharp chain also !
  14. I have an open fire and only burn seasoned wood . Ash ,syc, holm oak, hawthorn and dead elm mostly . Sweep the chimney once a year . Last year I had a chimney fire . Could not reason why . fire brigade came and sent a sprinkler up and put it out . One chap got in the loft with an infra red camera and identified a hot spot in the top dog leg . He said it will be soot and tar caught in the corner . Any way after they had gone I swept the chimney again only to collect a handful of soot . Months later my wife told me the kids had admited to throwing thier Mac donnalds cartons on the fire including the plastic wrappings from a crappy free toy the got ! I recon the moulten plastic stuck in he dog leg and burned there . Bloody kids ! ( I love em really )
  15. Perhaps from now on you should feed the kids on a regular basis , mow the new seeded grass when it needs it maybe do their ironing and house work then rid the world of all known diseases .
  16. What he said . Also tank breather , spark plug . Do those 3 first then call spud .

    Fake 395XP

Same as you I don't bother . Done it all researched it like spud has reported to ebay , nothing , reported to Husqvarna , nothing . In formed seller , Last resort you could contact the buyer and let them know but I don't know if thats breaking any rules ?
  18. The reference to the ported saw was info for me at my request . I asked spud if he would port my saw . He said yes , it will cost x amount . I said o.k. I have to say its the best value I have had in a long , long time . Remember , I asked him .
  19. I think they are all like it . It re- occurs .Take it back demand a refund and buy a different saw . Others have done this as said on here . I am not going to go all H v S but hey ?
  20. Yep they do . Just had a new carb, a hotter plug and a remap on my 560 under warranty . Sorted now as it happens . .
  21. Honestly , have you no sole ?
  22. O.K. yea I see what you mean . Perhaps I should have worded it better . Its the ton of lead / ton of feathers thing . If you had a sack of well seasoned bone dry hickory you would need , say 6 sacks of simarly well seasoned bone dry pop to generate the same amount of heat .
  23. What is a solititer ? Is it a kind of fish ?
