  1. Been burning dead elm for years . There in a seemingly endless supply in the hedgerows in Sussex. Superb fire wood .
  2. The inertia bit applies to the mechanism not some one swinging the saw about . Some time ( when I'm tired ) I just drop my saw on the ground when its turned off and the inertia mech will activate the brake .
  3. You say the ancient ash look lovely in the summer so they must be getting enough lite to have survived this long . We need resistant ash for obvious reasons What about felling enough Douglass to help the ash and if they seem resistant harvest the keys for future stock ?
  4. My whole body is shot to bits and my brain is frazzled . But hey there are worse of than me in the world .
  5. Yep Its just that Steve called the mod ! Is it to do with the pump piston ?
  6. Would not be better than a 200 but would piss all over a 201 !
  7. Yep . Sent mine to spud and he did " the mod " . p.m. him
  8. I think frozen wood burns better than wood that is sopping wet . I recon when it freezes the moisture does not penetrate so much . Anyway I have found the same .
  9. I made the school boy error of interpreting " ( 3-5 min" ) as three to five minutes as apposed three to five cuts minimum ! I suppose it works out about the same really .
  10. If hot DON'T use the choke . Put it on then strait off again to set to half throttle if you want but mine starts with out setting half throttle , just one pump of primer bulb . Remember that the ignition is always in the ON position , even when you turn it off it resets to on strait away . Forgetting this can sometimes cause people to accidentally flood it . As for running in forget it as you have to set the auto tune by cutting flat out the full length of the bar for a few cuts . It tells you in the book. The de comp button pops out just from compression even if it does not fire so to be kind to the starter mech I think it is best to push it in every time you pull it over . Once you get used to the slight differences from older saws you won't look back . Best 60cc saw I have ever owned .

  12. Hi Stuart . Welcome bud . All the guys op here are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge . You will get to know the regulars . Some are characters ! When you first read anything by Jon ( mendiplogs ) You will see what I mean . Regards Andy .
  13. No , godda come back on and say for every day stuff it just has to be my 560 . Punches well above its weight .
  14. Thats about it really . Off the ground , ( pallets or similar ) Cover the top to keep rain off , Plenty of air circulation . If its green ( live when cut ) it will; take longer to dry out than already dead wood ( seasoned ) . You can have seasoned wood that has got wet and you can have unseasoned wood that is still green . There is a difference .
  15. Well you seem to have that under control
  16. I you liked " Blazing Saddles " You would probably like " Evil Roy Slade " Made I larf !
  17. My brother went out there 20 odd years ago . Way ahead of me in every respect . says he misses the seasons but I know he would never come back for good . My advice to you based on my brother would be GO for it as soon as you can . Work hard , don't moan about anything be fixable ./ You will go far . Good luck .
  18. Don't get those wellie things ! Please , promise me . THE most uncomfortable things on gods earth .
  19. You hang in there jon . You will win in the end !
  20. Bummer Jon . As you know I am down here in Sussex and its snowed again but the roads are clear . Got no work at the moment so been processing logs for me . Keep the stove going ! . Only one thing for iot bud . Drink some cizzer !
  21. A felling license applies to the site , not the person . It is a certain amount per an allocated time frame I seem to remember . I don't think you need one for that small amount in the pic . It would be wise however to check that you are nopt in a conservation area or that there are no TPOs on any thing you want to fell .
