  1. I have heard that the cage is plastic ? ? I could be wrong . ( Husqvarna man my self ) but maybe there is a bearing from another saw , be it Sthil or whatever , that has the usual metal cage tjat would fit/have the same dimension ?
  2. I would think that the original spec one would work best but ask spud anyways . He knows loads .
  3. Was it genuine ( OEM ) Husqvarna pot and piston or a cheap after market one ? If it was a chineese one it wont last the day ! If its a Husqvarna one then maybe the carb wants looking at . Ask spud . he will know .
  4. Agreed . The saw spud has worked on for me is totally usable and totally reliable . Starts second or third pull from cold and first pull from warm/hot. will idle all day if thats what you want . Pick up is instant mid range is good and is generally more efficient . Steve has set it up with a tacho to max out at 14400 to 14600 rpm with the plug giving the correct coloure . He burried it in some common oak and tached it in the cut at arround 1200rpm this being where some saws max out not under load .I put an 8 pin rim on to give even more chain speed but it might be better with a 7 and rely on the torque . Have yet to do a comp . It seems to pull the 8 fine though . Went through some holme oak yesterday like a goodun. It is most definately way better than standard and well worth the money . Provided you use good quality mix and keep the fuel fresh it will give good service for a good many years . ( 15" bar full pointy chain )
  5. Sorry should have said adjust , then tighten .
  6. Tighten it finger tight , hold saw by back handel drop the bar tip onto a tree but , log or similar this will push it up .now tighten . This works with any type of saw .
  7. What if you got a richochet from your .243 and accidently killed the farmer on the ladder with his top handle saw . ? ? ?
  8. The Rolls Royce of bars in my opinion but as you say pricey . Used alot by the loggers in North America and Canada I know . Its like anything now -adays you gets what you pay for . If you wanna pay for a Cannon Super bar you will have the best .
  9. Get a second hand 346 and get SPUD to breath on it . He did mine and its " stonki'n "
  10. Ardvarc piss . If that's not handy then all of the above .
  11. Spud is right . anyways the bike chain should be tensioned with the rider sat on it as things like swing arm pivot position ans suspension travel can affect it .
  12. Can't understand it . Mine is totally ballistic ! Best 60cc saw I have ever used and that includes 262 , 266 , 362 , and 357 .
  13. Felt compelled to start this thread . Just got my 346 back from spud with all the porting and squish touched by his magic hand . The saw is nothing short of stonkin' ! ! If any one wants their saw sorted so that it runs way better and more efficiently than standard I would recommend you give him a p.m. to talk about it . This is not your " make another hole in the exhaust" stuff this is the real deal . You would not be disapointed >

    Husky 550 XP

There is an alternative - - - - - Give your 346 to spud and he will make it out perform a new 550 for a fraction of the price - - he did it to mine and he did it to his . See the end page of "whats on your bench to day ? "
  15. I would not touch it unless it was a council owned site with someone in charge .Have done this type before and it makes me shudder . They will want more and more done each day with a series of " can you just" lines . I even had one job where we had to reduce a long hedge and in it was some hazel . a huge fight broke out between those that wanted to lower the hedge and those that wanted us to leave the nut trees . Good luck whatever you choose .
  16. i just use an ally or copper drift . Hit it on one of the flats in direction of rotation and it spins right off . No need for a piston stop , compression is usually enough . Make sure the girly button is out though !
  17. Steve . Don't forget details so I can send your wonga ! A.
  18. Stonkin' saw strait out of the box ! I put an 8 pin powermat rim on mine and it goes like freahly skinned whippet . You MUST get one . " there is no sustitute"
  19. Jones is your best bet . They got an add on this site /
  20. Im its owner ( the ported 346 ) and I am totally over the mooon ! Spud is a God and thats the top and bottem of it . End of . !
  21. Gas poker . Thats what I use . No need to split kindling
  22. Don't get a 261 unless you want to keep replacing needle roller bearings ( see the thread ) Husqvarna all the way for ground saws .
  23. I run a 36" GB titanium .404 on my 395 and never had any feeling about it not being up to it . It just seems right .
