  1. Yes a very catchy tune. I remember in 1985 when it came out I was 17 and going to the disco's seeing those shinny spinning balls suspended from the ceiling. Mind you all the music in those days were good unlike today's crap.
  2. Gorbals in January would take some beating.
  3. Right, so who sells the takifyer?
  4. an old boy told me many years ago it is unlucky to cut holly except in the month of December.
  5. whats so physically hard about stump grinding anyway ?
  6. i have never leased or had finance i have always bought vehicles about 4 to fiver year old, by leasing etc you are mortgaging your future etc, by buying a good second you are having a vehicle that someone else has took the hit of loosing 60% on the cost of buying new.
  7. No advice, but we doing something similar, going to Paris then Milan, through to Lake Como, then over the Alps to Zurich and back home again, i promised the mrs i would take her years ago, but never got around to it.
  8. my skin, as pure as the driven snow, cant understand why anyone would want to have it done, if you like the design - art of it, commission an artist to paint a picture of it for yourself, or is it away of bringing attention to yourself, Seeing tattoos these days always reminds me of years ago of those skinny teenagers with tattoos riding on the back of bumper cars at fairgrounds with a roll up in their mouth.
  9. Its absolutely scandalous the price of band tracks etc. And the money isnt in the job anymore, but you have to have them just to move,
  10. Its not the ground conditions that are your problem Dave, its the lack of traction aids thats making it hard going, put some chains on her and she'll be flying out of there fully loaded.
  11. Hi , try A T osboune at Romsey near Southampton, they are very good, been doing that kind of work for 40 years, ask to speak tp Mark.
  12. There used to be a good market for Aeroplanes i seem to to remember,
  13. Or it could be that you have damaged the chain when the original bar went caput, probably a slight twist on one or two drive links or side straps, take the bar off the saw and put the chain on the bar and move the chain by hand and you might see a tight spot as the chain goes around the tip of the bar if there is a tight spot there then there is your problem.
  14. Personally i wouldn't consider a micro machine, due to its lifting capacity, size of load etc, i owned a valmet 820 years ago, great little machine, 7 to 8 gallon of diesel per day and will lift almost any sawlog, will carry seven ton and will fit on the back of a tractor an low loading trailer for half the price of the machines that you are looking at.
  15. You'll be climbing the Tyne bridge in no time Mark, wishing you a speedy recovery, M.
  16. Why not get a contractor in to do the harvesting and you do the forwarding, it saves taking the risk on buying a unproven harvester in this country on rough hairy spruce, not to mention other hassles of drivers etc, i used to do this system years ago to good effect,
  17. Suffered three broken ribs ever, all through work, very painful, really limits you to what you can do, sleeping can be difficult, no cure except rest and taking things a bit easier, lucky for me that i am pretty quick healer and suffered no pain since healed. get well soon.
  18. How much more power in % terms does porting give a saw? Is there any difference in fuel consuption as a result.
  19. Or you could leave it untill the ground firms up a bit, in the past i have put boards down etc to save make a mess, but it only half works as the boards squash into the lawn and the mud comes to the top due to working on top of the boards, wait until May when the moisture has gone.
  20. I know its easy for me to say but i would call his bluff, he is tryng to bully you and its not nice being bullied, its bwd for your soul and in this case your pocket, where else is he going to get 40 quid a werk gor an old shed, string him along for now saying you will think about it, just to give you time to find somewhere else, then when you find somewhere else you have a choice either to stay put or move to another place, who knows you might find somewhere else that is cheaper and with more services, all is not lost, good luck.
