  1. Not sure what make of post driver you've got, but had the same problem with a kinghitter in the past. In the end we drilled a 10mm hole in the mast at about chest night and put a bolt through then sat the hammer on this when were on the road. This kept the hammer inside the width of the tractor with just the bottom of the mast sticking past the wheel by about 2 inches.
  2. Still 171 did me for several years till some scroat nicked it out the back of me disco while I was down the line stapling up! Small, very light, super accurate with the 1.1 pico chain and cheap as chips. Have heard of others having oiler problems but always found it super reliable.

    Jokes???

    Totally agree with number1
  4. Time for an update on this. 10 months since I got the lathe I've done a fair bit of turning, in between work and moving house twice. Up until recently I really struggled to get a good finish from the tools and was trying (fairly unsuccessfully) to sand out my mistakes. Suddenly in the last week or 3 something has clicked and I'm getting on far better, think it's probably a combination of better tool presentation and better sharpening (something I've been concentrating on) Here's 4 of my most recent pieces, please feel free to give your opinions, I need to get some feedback. Small pot, base sycamore, top oak. Small pot not sure of wood, probably sycamore My first hollowing, tulip wood, made up a small scraper out of an old chisel to get under the lip. Yew Also a chunky salad bowl that I did earlier in the summer, just cos I loved the spalting
  5. That would sum up my opinion of them!
  6. I was only wondering yesterday what happened to that holder. I got Roni to send me the photos of it when he was selling it but soon realised it would be out of my price range. How much work did it take to get it running again?
  7. Beautiful!
  8. D Clean your glasses with a TINY dab of shampoo, stops them steaming as long as you don't rinse it all off. Takes a few attempts to get it right without smearing but worth it. Practise on a bathroom mirror before you shower and it will be clear when you get out. Once cleaned the word 'die' on someone's mirror - they really freaked out the next day when they got out of the shower. Also works on windscreens etc but does need doing quite regularly.
  9. I like that, elegant solution.
  10. It doesn't matter at all whether someone is selling unseasoned or seasoned, hardwood or softwood as long as the customer knows what they are buying.
  11. I use the X27, highly recommend it. Got mine from from USA via amazon.com but now available in the UK for the same money or less. A quick Google just turned this up, (first result I clicked on) http://www.powertoolsdirect.com/fiskars-x-series-splitting-axes-range?utm_source=google&kwd=&utm_medium=merchant_pla&gclid=CO-01O7uyLoCFSXItAodIFAA0g
  12. First snow of the winter on the top of the hills behind the house this afternoon.
  13. Impressive machine and a great setup with that roof over it, as you say an extractor will make it a better place to work. I do think you need to dig a hole to stand in though
  14. Did the controls get stuck in the up position?
  15. In my limited milling experience I would say go with the biggest saw you have. As for chain speed, it stays the same as the gearing doesn't change. If you want to increase the chain speed then change to a 8 tooth sprocket.
  16. No need to be shy of posting something as good as that, truly excellent, a great design. Also very interested in the mechanics of it, was it screwed, bolted etc.
  17. Sounds like it's time for another one of your videos Barrie. Very instructive.

    Yum, Yum

thinking of doing this next year, just 2 as we haven't got space for any more freezers. How did the costings work out with 4 of them, purchase price and feed costs.
  19. Small stuff is great for mushrooms, 2-3"
  20. Love Yew, beautiful to turn

Shush! Don't tell everyone. Where abouts did you stay, as you said it's a great place for wildlife, I liked it so much I just moved here.
  22. You been on the booze?
  23. Is this the sort of thing you mean? http://www.h2okayaks.com/engine/shop/product/153210/Replacement+Snap+Button
  24. I've worn a copper bracelet for 20 years, every time I've lost one (about 1 a year) I find I get joint pains within about a week. Worth a try.
  25. You might have to explain a bit more, all Google came up with was manicure products. Unless that's what you're after but if that's the case you may be on the wrong forum
