  1. AMEN that brother. When i first dropped out of college, not something i made a habit of- was an outdoor pursuits course. I started gardening, dropping leaflets through doors, used to generate more business than i do now. i had a job just before i passed my test where i had to walk my mower (my mums actually) nearly a mile, via the petrol station to fill it up, to get to a job. Luckily i passed my test first time and i was away. clippings in a builder bag and then shoved in the car. was alright until i had run over dog eggs. they smelt great in a hot car!!!!
  2. talk about expploitation. national trust, one of the biggest in the country pulling huge revenues and using more and more volenteers to do the work. in some cases people are paying to work!!! crazy world. Original post. Sounds like a great opportunity for the for the right candidate although i think this maybe coming to the wrong time of year heat wise. I have done a bit of caravan living in the past. the cold shower got me so created one using the washer bottle from a car and using the light switch and battery. Pour in the warm water and it was enough for a 2/3 minute shower! Its funny beacause i used to have a dream of building a shower onto the end of a caravan. Peaked to early!!
  3. Good choice, what model did you get?
  4. looks brill. not sure on colour and probably wouldn't be a patch on the old t25 where it seems to get some of it influences, that was an old school weapon. Esecially in its syncro guise.
  5. i used a skid steer where i used to work. Absolutely fantastic piece of kit! Brilliant for garden work, tight access. as for skids ripping the ground up, we used to have about 10 ply sheets we used to pop down. made less mess than a few bloakes trapesing back and forth. The machine in question, a vermeer, had a grab on it which was like so cool and could lift hell of a weight. If i had more profitable work on i would get one, as is i will stick with the imagrants, cant beat them for price. £20 a day. then i take a 10 of for their lodgings. Its a no brainer!
  6. i went for a hiux. i have a ply box that goes on the back which i chip into. for me 4x4 is a must, wouldnt be able to get in and out of my shed without it. And yes i could of probably spent a couple g's on some hard core to eradicate that problem but i am often off road.
  7. Try the cheapest options first.
  8. check the belt tension.. maybe
  9. i would say you need a 4x4 when the 205 van no longer cuts the mustard. i had a job last week 2 days, where i had 11 loads of wood chip that i had to shovel off as i dont have a tipper. Was thinking to myself i could do with an isuzu nkr or similar. But 90% of my work requires me to drag the chipper cross country so i am not sure it would work for me, or would be sat up for long periods.
  10. For longevity you cant go wrong with honda. They just seem to get it right. The independent suspension on some of the others does five a smooth ride but is more bushes to wear out. Where you too? I got a chap down here who is a quad bike dealer. Mid devon way. Can put you in touch if you want some advice
  11. i have seen that hilux drivin about. Post code on the websit is just down the road from me! I'll tap him up for a price
  12. your groundy would probably do a better job gnawing on the conny then them blunt blades!! well past their use by!!!! Looks like somebody has been chipping up breeze blocks
  13. Tis a fairlt new bearing. Perhaps I will pull the seal of the new one and pack it in.
  14. Sealed bearings
  15. Was out on a job today and my chipper, little entec, started making some bad noises. Turned it off to have a look and it looks like the front bearing has gone Always the way. It has sat in the shed unused for at least a month and it just so happens i have got a few jobs linned up for it this week and the weekend and now i have to strip it down!! bummer suppose it is the timberwolf way!! Might look at getting a new, non timberwolf, chipper. (when i say new i mean new to me, i am not made of money!) Thinkinn a nice jenson o i can dream.
  16. I tryed some husky chaps. Over crag hoppers. Feckingbhot to work in. I see know why people go commando underneath them.
  17. blackdown boy on here did have a transit for sale, all stickered up to comply with highways and flashy lights. 04 plate from memory
  18. Take a look at the goodyear duratrac. Little bit more aggressive than the the bf and grabber equivalents
  19. Hi all as per description i have a job coming up in Avounmouth, Bristol. I need to assemble a team which will include three guys or girls (or a mix) with tracked chipper and a 4x4 mewp. Probably a weeks worth of work or just over. If you can supply or know of someone who could supply the equipment or the people then please could you let me know. Thanks Mark Brewer [email protected] 07969023182
  20. Hi all. I have been asked to provide some rustic timber to be used in a roof, some of which will be visible from inside the house. I was going to do it with an alaskan mill (the chap was happy with the 'rustic' finish it gave but i think i am going to struggle to fit it in with some of the other things i have going on. So i wanted a price for the below sizes in larch or similar. With bark on in places where possible. 10"x6"x5m x12 5"x2"x4.8 x80 8"2"x5.4m x10 I am based in west somerset. If interested could you email me a price to [email protected] that would be fab.
  21. Havent looked at the cylinder yet. But may be interested in selling if anyone is interested
