  1. yeah a king cab would be the way to go but they seem to fetch a high price. i would take what ever comes my way but think i would prefer a double cab so i can make some decent tool storage and have somewhere to hang my coat up
  2. i have public liability and pretty much all the subbies i use are people i have known for a long time so hopefully we wouldnt end up with the tree on house.
  3. last year i had subbies working for me a handfull of times. i want to get employers liability, is it going to be worth the extra cost for the handful of times i use subbies?? obviously if a subby put a tree through someones roof i would be saying i wish i had EL.
  4. i had trouble with my ms200. cleaned everything out, worm gear fine and it looked as though the oil was coming out when i ran it with out the bar but it would not oil the chain. replaced the oil pump and boom oiling fine! you could also try rinsing the oil tank out with petrol in case there is crap in there.
  5. i have not found one yet. having trouble with my truck at the moment so the grinder may be on the back boiler for the moment! it good to get peoples opinion. i have done a lot of grinding with a vermeer self propelled grinder which was easy peasy to use and fairly powerfull- not sure i will be getting any of that luxury when i eventually get one.
  6. i prefer a truck that has/ had doors that keep the wind and rain out as standard from the factory. and landy is not in my feeble price range.
  7. hello all. i am wanting to change my fourtrak for a pick up and was wondering if the vauxhall brava or its isuzu counterpart was much cop? thanks mark
  8. yeah the leaking sounds terminal i will do you a favour and take the tractor off your hands:thumbup: i have a 4/65 myself but running a 6 cylinder lump. just started stripping it down to do a suspected head gasket- hopefully not the linners.
  9. drugs at work is a no no. i have worked with people that have been recreational drug users - outside of work. my main problem was the mood swings and temper flair ups. doesnt make for a nice atmosphere.
  10. nuffield 4/65?
  11. In the btcv hedge laying hand book it says you can lay down hill aswell, and I have done.
  12. Only 90. I had 100mph on my old k reg fourtrak. Had the pump wound up as much as I could. And for your in formation that was off the clock
  13. Hello guys. I am looking for my first stump grinder. May I add I am on a budget and will be looking at a second hand unit. What machines should I be looking out for? Thanks mark
  14. double bagging here. i like to where glasses and a visor- and still manage to get stuff in my eyes occasionally
  15. great trucks. look out for the rear cross member rusting out and inner rear wheel arch and boot floor. great off road and great for towing. and if its a 94 then it should be the independant model which is a comfier drive.
  16. i can get through 2-3 inch stuff with the brable type blade. not sure how ggod it is for the machine!!
  17. i am not even going to try and attempt a search for 550 problems because i will be here all day looking through threads!!! i have had the saw for about a year and it has given me no problems, one brake band which is wear and tear. but the other day i went to start my saw half way through the day - was using it earlier in the day- and the choke/ stop button doesn't stay in the chocke position. if i take the top cover off i can get it to work by giving it a firm push up wards. not ideal. any ideas??? kind regards mark
  18. havent come across anything up my way, just plenty of rain!!
  19. i'm in the market for a new pair of leggings. defo going to be getting a pair of these after reading this thread
  20. who cares about payload. i know for sure that a double cab long bed transit can hold loads more chip. but no good for me as i need 4 wheel drive so will be on the look out for a pick up to convert. if i need to carry more chip i will take the tractor and trailer
  21. O and I think they are a substitute for common sense. If you know what your doinv then you will not gain much from the ticket. For an employer an idiot with a ticket is fine as he has proof of adequate training
  22. The trouble is that, with out my cs39, my insurance company wont insure ne for climbing. It is hard for me to get your foot in the door unless you have, at least, your nvq level 3 or even better a masters in wiping ya ass. I had been climbing, brushcutting, tractor driving and using loo roll proficiently before I took my nptc tests. Speculate to accumulate.

    what 4x4

I was lucky with my fourtrak. I purchased it from a friend who had literally taken the body of the chassis to get at every little bit of rust. So apart from one rear wheel arch that is scabbing up it is in a1 condition. Not bad for a 15 year old truck that has been worked all its life

    what 4x4

I am in a similar position to the original poster. I currently have a diahatsu fourtrak which is economical, tows well ( fuel pump tweaked), super reliable and fairly good off road. I was thinking, and still might do, of getting a tipping trailer. But the problen comes when you need to do some chipping. Ideal world would be l200 club cab tipper or similar cab set up.
  25. As title I am based in west somerset and looking for a chipper to hire with out operator preferably. Thanks mark
