  1. I've just replaced my husqvarna 232r with a Kawasaki kbh35b and so far I'm more than happy, ok it's not going to match the bigger stihl or husqvarna offerings for power but it is noticeably lighter and if your going to be using it for large areas the weight saving is quite nice
  2. Hi rob Are you planning on getting the right patern 15" sugi bars for the 550xp at some point as I'd be interested in one when the Oregon that is on my 550 wears out Cheers graham
  3. I'm planning on going to jonsies show on the Friday so if you're going to be there then I can sling it in the van and bring it along. Same goes for the ransomes if it helps anyone Cheers graham
  4. Ransomes has had no takers as of yet and is now joined by a 1999 husqvarna 232R strimmer that is in need of a carb strip/rebuild (or new carb) and a spark plug only got replaced as dealer labour made it uneconomic to fix (had been running a bit lumpy when it went in but otherwise worked as it should) and although mechanically minded I'm crap with 2 strokes unless its really simple. So same deal as the ransomes free to anyone willing to collect it from Egerton near Ashford and make a donation to charity if you wish. Pm me for any further details or reply on here Cheers graham
  5. Having used both Garths roof mount 560 for various bits and a 560 11t euro trailer for chestnut coppice extraction I realy can't fault the botex, I suppose if I were nit picking they are a bit clunky and agricultural but I've never felt the need for more lift and they are solidly built unlike some of the dedicated forestry stuff that looks as though its designed to snap if it sees a decent chunk of wood
  6. I'm hoping to get along again for a full day on friday this year, last year i only managed to get there for a couple of hours but still really enjoyed it.
  7. He who never makes a mistake never makes anything Like watching a monkey ****ing a football
  8. As I said its rough but it works and for the 10 or so times a year I might use it I realy couldn't care what it looks like and if it breaks or I end up not using it then ive not wasted any amount of money
  9. I have thought for a while that the easy lift harness was a good idea but for the amount I'd use one I couldn't justify the cost of buying one so I thought I'd have a go at making my own. Up to this point it has cost me the grand total of £3 for a 2nd hand baby carrier and some bits I had in the shed It's very rough but it works and should save my arms a bit on long hedges. Comments/suggestions welcome
  10. Just thought I'd bring up this thread to save starting another one. I was given this mower a few months ago and it's previous owner said it had been serviced by a local dealer a few years ago then cut their lawn twice before deciding the lawn was to rough for it so it had sat unused in their garage until it came to me. I had plans to get it going but like all these good ideas have never got round to it and so with space in my shed tight it has been sat outside and I really think it deserves a better home so my thought was its free to anyone that wants to collect it from near ashford in kent and if you want to make a donation to charity feel free to do so. Here is a pic so you know what your getting It is a ransomes marquis 20" and as it sits is a non runner due to broken fuel line and stuck pull start but the engine turns over by hand and I'm guessing it wouldn't take much to get it going. Please pm me if you are interested or want any further info
  11. I used to go through a pair of dickies boots every 3-4 months usually toe caps moving or soles falling apart so I decided to spend a bit more and got a pair of Lowa boots from straus direct online they lasted just over 3 yrs of pretty much every day wear (farm work) and were still 100% water proof until the soles wore out and split but I'd deffinately have another pair if I didn't need chainsaw protection
  12. You have pm
  13. I used to run a 353 but changed to a 550xp a little while ago and much as I liked my 353 I wouldn't go back. The only thing slightly in the 353s favour is that it seemed to have more low end torque but I recon the 550 more than makes up for that with its top end power (something I'm not sure the 545 would do without the rev boost). In short they're both decent saws and you shouldn't be dissapointed with either

    Swap shop

Offered 53 reg fiat scudo van 114000 miles mot till nov tax till June, ply lined good all round nick Wanted suzuki jimny hard top pref in standard form not sky high on huge tyres Offered husqvarna 335xpt good running order new 14" bar and chain new chain brake band and exhaust cover Wanted offers
  15. I have that exact winch it lives in my van and has rescued the van (fiat scudo not so much stuck but ran out of traction) a couple of times when I have taken it a bit to far off road. Also used it to pull down hang ups in tight coppice wood, pull out small (shrub size) stumps and tension short runs of stock fencing around the farm. For the money I wouldn't be without mine
  16. Just got a 550xp and after my first propper bit of cutting with it I am very impressed.mine is running a 13" bar which makes it look a bit toy like but it absolutely flies through the wood.
  17. Will that give it some extra "horse" power
  18. Or try as best as you can to make it look like some cheap b&q saw that no one in there right mind would buy let alone steal

    266xp ?

I have been offered a hasqvarna 266xp for what I'd say is a decent price so my questions are (1) is a 266xp any good (2) what would you expect to pay taking into consideration that it will need new bar, chain, sprocket, plug and filters. The saw is in very tidy order overall and has bags of compression just too heavy now for its 70+ owner who wants something smaller and lighter
  20. Just come back from the doctors and he told me I have to watch what I eat so I've booked tickets for the grand national I ordered lasagne in a restaurant and the waiter asked if I'd like anything on it so I said £10 each way
  21. Here is my log splitting set up the axe was my great grandfathers (had a few new handles) and the bill hook/slasher thing I picked up at a boot sale for 50p
  22. It's the 25:1 2 stroke mix in the description that gives it away, almost all of these fakes run 25:1 instead of the 50:1 mix most of us are used to
  23. Numerius Ovidius Plautus
  24. Domestic tree surgery a'la Garth McGarth
  25. My elderly uncles shed was done over last night and he had 2 husqvarna saws and a Kawasaki hedge cutter taken he can't remember the model numbers but one saw had a home made plywood bar guard and the other had a maculloch bar guard. They were taken some time before 10pm form the middle of charing village. If anyone hears or sees anything please let me know and I'll pass it on Many thanks Graham
