  1. Hi guys this is a massive long shot but I have bought a mountain bike from eBay buyer collects thinking that I could just arrange a courier to pick it up and deliver to me however the seller will not box it up and I can't find any firm that will take it un boxed so for beer tokens and my eternal gratitude is there anyone willing to pick up the bike on my behalf and either (A) box it up so I can get it collected or (B) sling it in/on their van/car and bring it to me near Ashford in kent. if you are able to help please pm me or reply here. Cheers Graham
  2. I have a pair of haix Tibet forests that are well over 2years old and I chose them purely on the basis that the upper is almost identical to the protector pro but the soles are vibram and replaceable so when they do wear out I don't have to throw away perfectly good boots and can just get another sole put on, old fashioned but it works for me
  3. I have the stein phantoms and have found them to be a decent boot. Mine are coming up for a year old and only on the very wettest days this winter did I have damp feet, they are wearing fairly well but I don't think the soles are replaceable so my guess is that those will wear out way before the rest of the boot does. The only down side I found with them was that they take a fair bit of breaking in being made from 3mm leather but once you get past that they're great.
  4. Not sure if its technically over loaded but I don't think I'd have got much more on/in
  5. I have both bought the 550 first and run a 15" bar but wanted a bigger saw so got a 560 on an 18" bar and since getting the 560 the 550 has spent most of its time under the bench relegated to spare saw status. The 560 just has much more go and isn't that much heavier so if I had to pick one I'd go for a 560 every time
  6. Good vid clearly playing it up for the camera but some good acurate cutting leaving everything plenty tidy enough for winching out/processing elsewhere. I used to operate a stoke precessor alongside a cutter in chestnut coppicing a few years back that used to cut a bit like this when the mood took him but his efforts usualy ended up with either a tangled mess on the floor that was a nightmare to sned and process or a load of hung up trees that had to be taken down with the crane neither of which were any more productive than slowing down a bit and doing the job propperly
  7. Tickets bought great job mr bullman and well done to all who have donated prizes
  8. I've just fitted a set of insa turbo rangers on my daihatsu terios and so far I'm well pleased. They grip perfectly well off road and on road they are no noisier than my previous road tyres and if anything they are better in the wet than the road tyres were . Also at £67 each delivered I won't be too sad if they don't last too long
  9. I bought a pair of the red phantoms at jonsies show to wear as summer boots as my haix Tibet forests were a bit too warm. So far the steins have been great and even now the weather has turned wet they're still the boots I grab first unless it's a really wet site I'm working on. They are really comfortable and for the price I can't fault them at all.
  10. Skoda octavia is a good shout, heard nothing but good things about them. Or if you want a curve ball alternative try looking up a Renault megane scenic RX4 my wife has a 1.9 td and its been great for lugging kids and all the bits that go with about and because all the rear seats come out I use it now and again for van type duties that I can't do with my little terios. Plus being 4x4 its quite usefull in the snow
  11. They certainly mark as the farm dad works on is just down the lane from the chilmington site but as has been said they must have heard the saw going and figured it was worth coming to have a look. The thing is of you actually stopped them they'd come up with any number of excuses lost dog/kid, heard saw thought I'd come and see if there was any work going ect ect and the local police can't go into their site more than twice a month or they get accused of racial prejudice its a total f*#~ing joke
  12. The thieving scumbags tried to have another go at dads truck yesterday while he was at work. The truck was parked at the edge of a field 2 fields away from the nearest road while dad and another guy were going round the edges with telehandler and man cage taking off low boughs, the saw ran out of fuel and as dad came round the corner to his truck where the fuel was he found a car next to his truck which turned round and sped off across the feilds back to the road as soon as it saw him. So kinda lucky the saw ran out when it did or he would have probably come back to find the truck gone or at least gone through again
  13. Mine is an x reg daihatsu terios, bit of a toy 4x4 to look at but so far its got me and my kit everywhere I've wanted to go on and off road and much cheaper running costs than a "propper 4x4" if you don't need a towing vehicle
  14. Not that there was ever anything exactly wrong with them but I always felt the 346xp was totaly over rated and all the ones I had any experiance with where a pain to re start on a warm day after a tea break whereas my 353 would always fire up first pull
  15. I used to have a 254xp and sold it to part fund a 550xp and so far i'd say its the right thing to do, the 254 was and still is a belter of a saw but compared to the 550 it does feel clunky and dated and the anti vibe is much better on the new saw so if you're going to be using it all day then that may be something to consider. Also if your 254 is still in decent nick there are plenty of people willing to pay reasonable money for it however if you use it till it dies then the cost of replacement parts especially pot/piston make them almost worthless. Hope this helps Cheers Graham
  16. So first propper work type job for the terios and the result terios 1-old snapped concreted in sign post 0 It took a few tugs but a normal size 4x4 wouldn't have fitted on the pavement at all so I would have ended up spending ages digging the thing out by hand so that counts as a win me thinks
  17. It's low 40s most of the time however it does seem to drink a fair bit if you do motorways. As for feeling solid I'd say its about as good as it can be for what is a tiny toy 4x4
  18. So far I'm well impressed I took it green laning yesterday with a mate in his disco and I went everywhere he did and fitted through the tight spots much easier. From what I've heard the engine is a Toyota yaris lump so should be reliable and easy for parts if it needs them.
  19. I have been after something smaller/lighter/better off road than my van for a while and having owned a discovery a while ago I really didn't fancy another. I Had narrowed my choices down to either a suzuki jimny or a daihatsu terios. In the end this came up at the right price local so I had it. Ok it is not and never will be a mud plugging off road monster nor will it tow 3.5 tons but to get me and my tools to and from jobs even if the job is down a byway or across a field this seems ideal. Really glad I didn't go for the jimny in the end as even in the terios with the rear seats removed my strimmer only just fits so I doubt it would have fitted in a jimny at all.
  20. Great afternoon/evening really good to put some names to faces and the weather couldn't have been better well done jonsie and crew
  21. Yes I slung some in my 1962 fordson as the oil pressure light had been flickering at tickover and it chuffed oily smoke most of the time.at the time I didn't fancy/couldn't afford an engine re build and so far it apears to have worked the light now stays out however it still smokes a bit but not as bad as it was. So I'd say its worth a go but don't expect miracles
  22. I'm planning on being there so if anyone's team can make use of me then I'm up for joining in
  23. Right last shout for the ransomes before I weigh it in for scrap. The strimmer will be coming with me to jonsies show for felix as long as he still wants it if not that wil go in the scrap bin along with the mower as I just need them gone
  24. The truck was parked on their drive no more than 10 feet from their front door just under their bedroom window. thankfully most of dads more expensive tools had been taken out and stored overnight elsewhere
  25. My dad came out to go to work this morning to find his ford ranger open and some tools/clothes taken the list as far as we know is A Stabila laser level set with tripod and staff A pair of le chameau wellies size 8 A green/black englebert straus body warmer A pair of RSPB binoculars And a stack of CDs Ok mostly low value items but my dad has owned his truck from new and in the 8 years he has had it he has never left the thing unlocked but no locks have been damaged and the alarm didn't go off. So keep an eye out and keep your truck/van/car as secure as you can as the thieving scum seem to be doing the rounds here at the mo. Cheers Graham
