  1. Your a big lad ain't ya? If my girly wrists can cope there shouldn't be a problem.
  2. Haha I have a good feeling about this.
  3. Give it up mate. A bolt coming loose on someone's saw doesn't make yours any less crap
  4. Don't hold back, Pete! Tell us how you feel! Haha Legend. It's ironic that I got called a wind up merchant in your last thread!
  5. It's the same nationwide, and it's all academic. It's as if having a bloke who did four days training on site is a "get out of jail free" card. My harness first aid kit contains a roll up and a dirty magazine. If I have to use it, I want to make it count.
  6. You're gonna have to explain that one to me...
  7. Beg your pardon Sir. I forgot how clean you worked. How many days a week do you have a second climber who is competent in rescue with a spare climbing kit, rescue accessories etc? Thought so. Mind you, all rescuing you would involve is four quick steps... ...up a ladder!
  8. I'd use whatever the smallest ground saw you have is for climbing. Harness: £150 45m rope: £110 3m prussik cord: £5 2 carabiners: £25 Climbing lid: £50 S/h spikes: £60 Total £400 Plenty left over to play with. Cut 5m from your main line for a lanyard. 3m of hitch cord should make 2 prussiks.
  9. There has to be a joke somewhere here about a "drains man" and "being pushed out"
  10. Because he bought it knowing the tree was there, and assuming he parents weren't related before marriage has the common sense to know that trees occasionally get bigger?
  11. That'd be sweet if you could. Gonna make one for one of the lads at work. Got the main part spliced but it doesn't retrieve well like yours.
  12. Got any more photos of that, Jesse?
  13. I'm the opposite, I've recently gone from 11mm velocity and blaze to 11.5mm Tachyon Not sure if I like it. Feels bulky.
  14. Fair enough, but you're a tree bloke, who knows and understands this. Many folk might not even realise, but most would be open to discussion at least.
  15. And just to run salt in its wounds he'll be filling the back with mushed up trees!
  16. Likely, so discuss it with the property owner and reach a compromise. If one can't be reached reasonable cut it back to boundary and live with it. Or move. I'd be apoplectic we're that my tree, and I'd make sure there were repercussions.
  17. I have used my velocity line with zigzag and Spiderjack. The zigzag was jerky on descent, since the rope flattens quite easily. It's made for a SJ/LJ though. Superb tending and descent. If you want to use a ZZ I'd go with 11.5 mm like Tachyon
  18. Decent job. It's rare to get a big tree that can be dismantled that easily. To be honest even if it could have been felled the tidy up would have taken longer. Only criticism (if it's welcome) is there's no need to cut away from the stem and then trim stubs. Your groundies will thank you for not having to pick up the extra pieces.
  19. I know. Despite myself I'm genuinely pleased for the bloke. Damn.
  20. It's probably not helpful in the slightest, but I'm not just taking the mick here. I bought a scrap (seized) 357, and sent it to Spud to fix and port, for less than what you bought the Stihl for. The build quality is lacking in the non pro ranges, and I can't help but feel like the type of problem you're having is less frequent on pro saws. If you're not relying on that one saw then I'd just get a refund!
  21. This is so much more entertaining than Breaking Bad. I'm getting popcorn.
