  1. To be honest unless it's really cold I'll just get wet. Keep a spare t shirt and hoody in the van. If rather be wet and cool than clammy and hot. If it's cold though, the cut and climb is great with just a t shirt underneath. Mine ain't so waterproof anymore after two years, but it's tough and keeps the worst out. I'd still call it good value for money.
  2. Most people spend as much time working as they do not working. Isn't it important to enjoy the time you spend working too? I've never got the penny pinching approach to work.
  3. Between 8am and 4.30pm weekdays. You can prune them on Saturdays too, but only if it's cash in hand.
  4. Is he one of yours Steve? FWIW I've been after rescue drills for a while now. A person shouldn't complain about doing them.
  5. I'm having a beer right now! You never asked mate! I have a rule of thumb. I give myself one beer per conny killed. Tonight is a seven pinter.
  6. What kind of lengths are you after? Whereabouts are you based?
  7. Exactly. How many of you ride a Penny Farthing to work?
  8. Cheers Rich, that looked like a cracking job! There'll be no space for a crane that size, and not much space on the drive. It's on a busy road so the street is out. To be honest we'll enjoy rigging out the brash. It's in decline so it's not very busy up there. Just to crane the timber and have someone pick it up will be nicer than cutting 4" discs and trying to shove them over the decorative wall and block paving that's been built around the tree
  9. Nah, mine was rubbish How many times you won the lottery now Hodge?!
  10. He never mentioned the funny smell coming from the boot either!
  11. You're not far from me. I'll pop up the a14 for a test drive.
  12. What do you want to swap, and for what?
  13. I reckon that's probably because I seem to have had all of them this year. I love it. Working connies efficiently is as much a skill as any other part of tree work.
  14. Nope, I run a 4yr old 201 on good old petrol and it's still on it's original plug. Come to think if it I've never had to replace a spark plug in any of my saws, though I have done for others.
  15. We don't do firewood or milling. Timber is a waste product for us which gets sold on. By all means make me an offer for it.
  16. That's be great thanks mate. Where is he based?
  17. Tell you what. If I fell it in your direction it'll be 90' closer than it was. You'll have to sort out getting it the rest of the way though
  18. I don't care what happens to the timber. It'll go whichever way is the most cost effective. I've never understood why a tree "should" be milled.
  19. Not sure when it's booked in for, I'm just exploring avenues to make the job go efficiently. Save me ringing up 60" discs to split and handball to the vans to take to a yard with not enough space for all that timber. The tree has armillaria I think.
  20. Both really helpful, guys, nice one! Didn't think of Simon, I'll message him when I have photos.
  21. Crane is only really viable as long as I can get someone to take the timber away in lengths.
