  1. Under armour, crew neck. Really hard wearing.
  2. Thanks for sharing... Not sure why you quoted me though.
  3. You're an older climber, aren't you Mick? Do you not have any niggles after a career body thrusting? For me the main benefits of an "advanced" system are one handed slack tending and the ability to easily make mid air ascents away from the stem.
  4. Give it more than five minutes?
  5. Being poor keeps us humble. For what it's worth I'm an employed team leader/lead climber, and I'm somewhere in the bracket that Ben mentioned. Similar area too.
  6. Sounds like a load of rubbish!
  7. +1 very good all round glove, and they last longer than the competition. I prefer Pfaner for climbing personally, but these are a close second.
  8. And if you don't I will! Second dibs?
  9. Glad you got involved? Sucker for punishment, you! I have the old 201t, with a muffler mod. I reckon it pulls better than a 540. I should get the upgrade, but to be honest it's good as it is.
  10. It's a complex thing, Matty. I probably enjoy 1 in 5 smokes, the others are just a habit. Morning coffee, wine, after eating, and when I'm lucky, after sex. Most of the time I hate being a smoker, but there's nothing like trying to quit to make me miss the little buggers. If nothing else the habit gives me an interesting insight to my psyche.
  11. Hi Jack, I've been wearing these trousers pretty hard since I got them and they're holding up well. I have one small rip beneath my right pocket, and a small hole I theogony pocket. Both could be patched in five minutes if I could be bothered. Considering the use they've had (mostly climbing) they're doing far better than most of my other trousers have. It'll be a good while yet until I look at replacing them. I'm 5'8" with a 28" waist and I'm wearing XS. It's a good fit for me, but anything over 28" will be a size small.
  12. Looks like the middle of the gob has been bored out, leaving only a few inches either side perhaps? That's if it was intentional.
  13. For less than the price of a pint why would you? You could make a full climbing setup from one piece of rope if you wanted to!
  14. Are we not his new friends?
  15. I'd love to see some photos of these unclimbable trees... I've never found a tree yet that I couldn't climb without spikes.
  16. Dean Lofthouse has a battery mini arb truck. He put a thread on it sonewhere
  17. Okay here goes: http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/climbing-equipment/harnesses1/arb-safety-harnesses/skylotec-record-climbing-harness/ http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/marlow/climbing-ropes/marlow-venom-11-8mm-climbing-rope-1-splice-blue-yellow/ http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/isc/karabiners-maillons1/steinisc-27kn-mighty-mouse-3-way-karabiner-aluminium-x-3/ http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/climbing-equipment/friction-ropes-split-tails-accessory-cord/teufelberger-sirius-cord-per-metre/ http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/petzl/protective-climbing-helmets1/petzl-alveo-vent-climbing-helmet/ That's for 37m of climbing line (cut 5m off for a lanyard) and 3m of hitch cord (will make 2 prussiks, climb line and lanyard) I doubt the harness will be great for tree work, but for a basic occasional kit it's about as cheap as I can be bothered to find. Comes in around £350 I think.
  18. Should be okay then
  19. My iPhone 4 fits with a griffin case on, but it's snug. I don't know how much bigger an otter box is.
  20. Anyone know where I can pick up a spare blade for the above saw? It's my favourite silky but I can find the spare blades for it online. It's the short one with the large teeth.
  21. Cut and hold is not a bad habit, it's a skill.
  22. I can justify every move I make. Of course I don't take well to a fresh outta college kid telling me how tree work should be done. In any case, I'm not gonna be fodder for your devils advocacy.
  23. Perhaps, but unless he's a climber at a competent level he doesn't have the understanding to presume to tell me I'm working poorly.
