  1. a good turbo will be water cooled anyway, and re-introducing waste gas back into the inlet tract is done for only one reason...get the emissions down, pre euro regulations, diesels used to regulary get crazy millages with no problems, once the "boffins" started screwing around with fuelling and all the other crap they've done modern diesels arent any better than the petrol engines, all the crap the idiots try preaching about emissions affecting the atmosphere, just think on the facts, every time a volcano erupts, it produces more co2, methane nox, and all the other so called bad gasses, in 30 seconds , than man has produced since he first walked on the planet. and how many eruptions take place every day
  2. my rowin was limited to pulling an 18' clinker built boat up and down a loch for a couple of hours every day after work trying to catch some stupid fish, sometimes these days I wonder who was stupider, the fish or me......lol
  3. I so want the jumbo log, if only to throw at folk
  4. try googling a company called parquip, there prices are really good, they've managed to beat every quote I've had for hoses and fittings, and for your information manuli hoses are made in italy by the same factory that makes pirelli stuf(what the ripoff merchants pirtek sell), it is available from most hydraulic suppliers
  5. very very nice, that log is a prime subject for veneer, that would create some beautifull tops and panels
  6. has anyone asked to see the title deeds for the land that actually state the LA own it......for as far as I have been informed a council can not own anything, they can only hold property in trust for the public there members represent, the next one is find out if the council is registred as a ltd company, then you have a cae for fraudulant missrepresentation of your interests against them
  7. timbernut, you say the larch was felled in a P Ramorum area, did you not have problems with movement authorisations for infected timber, I thought all the bark had to be removed, or the timber proccesed on site if your outside the control zone ( check the latest FC maps), not many sawmills will touch infected timber because of the costs involved in the equipment cleanup, you would be better trying to find someone with a large mobile setup willing to process on site, there would be much better returns on proccesed "clean" larch, (cladding, decking, anything involving external use), than infected timber destined for bio-mass
  8. thank you spuddog, that clears up a lot, and really throws a spanner in the works, most of the time its of the back of an alpine tractor, and the valve block clips onto the rops frame, so no loler needed, the other times its hooked on the mog, and that meamns it needs a loler ticket. do you have a refrence off the H&S site at all
  9. interesting, but the EN in sten came from its initial manufacturing place, Enfield, not England as it says in the info. the royal ordance factory, enfield, middlesex.
  10. well I'll need to look at geting the timber grab done then, and for leedermans info, strops, slings, shackles and any accssesories that go with the crane for lifting are 6 monthly as well,
  11. by driving a vehicle over the ground he has caused damage, grass is a valuable crop, and you can force the police to press charges
  12. I am in a bit of a quandry , timber grabs and loller checks, how does it stand, I know my atlas on the mog needs an annual check, but I cant find details anywhere about timber grabs, the same as mounted on my timber trailer. H&S documentation on the web is really vague, it says forestry equiment has to be, but then no details about what, or how, anybody out there got any information about this
  13. treated myself to a new pair of oregon chainsaw trousers, same size as old ones says me, shouldnt be a problem.........no chance, somebodys shrunk them , Im going to have to get a bigger size......
  14. most doctors wont accept that there is a possibility you might have it, old school quacks are very loathe to send things for tests, they would rather screw your life up, so if in the slightest doubt demand they do the tests and dont take any rubbish from them....just remind them you pay there wages
  15. bit difficult to do 30/31 now as they no longer exsist, now its different city and guilds numbers and different setup
  16. the best example of how to sort out corruption in goverment is Iceland, no coveage in the media, and very little being said about it anywhere else, the inhabitants had a peoples revolution, kicked out the goverment, jailed the bankers, rewrote the constitution, getting rid of the crap that they hadnt voted for that benifitted the "ruling" classes, and installwed a goverment of common folk who actually knew what was going on in the real world, they have gone from being bankrupt to a thiving country in a very short time and no politicians have gotten rich on somebody elses work. It would be wonderfull if something along those lines could work here, but too many corrupt officials to jail, there just isnt the space for them all
  17. gordon brown is the perfect example of why the whole political system in the uk needs a bomb putting under it, he is the only man in history who sold gold and made a loss. the "perfect" man to run a country, then tells people he has the answers to our financial problems....better than the grimms fairytales....lol
  18. it was in the galloway forest, if they had "fallen" into one of the marshy bits, they would never have re-apeared, no loss, hope they are caught soon, and for there sake, it better be the police that find them first......we look after our own up here
  19. make an apointment with your GP as soon as possible, it is very possible you are suffering from delayed shock, you need to see, and talk to a healthcare proffesionall who understands these kind of things. I know it sound stupid and not the "manly" thing to do, but it is the right thing to do
  20. it is indeed Skyhuck, It was late last nightwhen Iposted up, just had a quick look, never noticed the grill shape, 411 westie, more a smilie face than the 404 "frown" grill, well picked up
  21. early 404 with a westfalia cab, very desirable among collectors, also very pricey
  22. ray ban aviators, had mine since I "aquired" them from flying clothing in the RAF many many years ago, still in perfect condition (plus the lenses are optically perfect, no distortion)
  23. PLB's trigger an alarm at a national monitoring centre, 24/7 cover, thats why they have to be registred to the user, most dont have a talk facility, but as technology advances they are getting cleverer, they do however have a GPS locator in them

    Yard Layout

use 4 containers to make a tunnel, roof over the space and theres your storage in the middle, if you get the side opening ones, you can put your mill in and work from there, if not build a lean to roof off the container and use that
  25. a PLB, or SARBE, if properly registered, and triggered will instigate a SAR response, if used correctly this will not cause a problem, but if abused could lead to the user getting a hefty bill, I am only aware of one "kit" carrying these at the moment and the users should hopefully be aware of there proper use. If you know you are going to be working in remote areas where there is no phone, or radio, coverage, think about investing in a sat phone, they arent that expensive, and work everywhere( if you can see sky, they work !), they might just save someones life
