  1. its not only coloureds shot by police, its anybody, highest death rate for police shootings anywhere
  2. is the machine set to run on 400v, I've seen stuff from various sources where you need to make a selection for everything from 360v to 500v double check with the machine builder on the motor specs and settings
  3. check your voltages, and check your supply cable diameters, sounds like a voltage drop under load
  4. aye, left set, neutral, no set, right set, found this works best for me, nice clean cut, and once you get into the way of it, quick to do a band
  5. 30 25 20, horizontal, 10 off horizontal, every option has pros and cons, like a stihl chain or an oregon chain or a carlton chain, find one setting that you like, your saw likes and stick to it, there is no perfect answer
  6. little tickle with a file every fill up, and chain change at lunch if you want is fine, as for safety, get yourself at least a cs30(or new equivalent) and never work alone, a first aid course for both folk is money well spent(the one course you never want to need to use) treat the large saws with respect, never complaicency, and they'll be good to you, try to be clever,or stupid, and they're like a big dog, vicious when they bite........cut safe
  7. barton77, have a good search on you tube, I ended up making my own setting tool, do my own now with no problems, a couple of push clamps, 2 dial gauges, some angle iron, flat plate, and a welder
  8. the sharpener sold by woodland mills is the grindlux 4000 made by Markusson AB, very easy to use and set up,I havent had any problems with mine, plus it runs on 12v DC, so for me is ideal
  9. clamped onto the bed of the M7
  10. city and guilds are now the recognised training body
  11. 2 lengths of thick walled scaffie, and 2 good slings, never had any problems
  12. if you have any friends who are into knifemaking, your old cutting chains make excellent blades and the damascus pattern is amazing, but you need a knowledge of firewelding and forging
  13. some very nice figuring in that burr J, hope the end user appreciates it
  14. about time somebody started reminding the FC that they only manage the land, we, the people, own the forests, and we want youngsters working on it
  15. been using the mill for around 5 years now, its built 4 log cabins so far, that set up in the pictures is an ms660 and a 36" GB bar specially for the stihl 3/8 pmx chain
  16. wee bit of elm milled on friday, smallest of 3 bits of trunk
  17. which one?, there is a whole system that builds up to the current m8, check out you tube for all the bits
  18. wilsons usually have all there botox kit as well as this year, there new hookloader system stuff, plus the burgers are really tasty
  19. outside the safety cab = yes requires to be lollered
  20. there is plenty of information out there, especially on some of the american sites about how much insulation "r" value is actually present in solid log construction,it is that to most grey suited planners, "its not a square brick box, must be wrong" atitude wont be swayed,I struggled with certain planners about the fire resistance of solid log buildings and it took two reports, both from american sources to change there minds, till some new blood shakes up the antiquated planning rules we have in this country, were going to have to fight for anything different
  21. as J says, if your running any quantity of bands, do them youself, you get to check every tooth gullet and grind youself, and you know that the set and angles are correct, no more "friday afternoon" re-sharps
  22. the move in major trauma has been away from celox granules and towards impregnated dressings, quicker, safer, and easier to work with, the added bonus is the product is easier to remove once in A&E. and as for touriquets, theyve never been out, just not being taught about (my first instructors were mine rescue team medics, and some of the things we were taught back then are still cutting edge to some "instructors" today) the only thing about using them is time control, "T" and time written clearly on the casualty, cos if you cant go with them, around the 15 min mark compartment syndrome starts to become a possible side effect (another thing you should be learning about on chainsaw first aid courses)
  23. the gmc conversion eats LR boxes and diffs, better off buying the gmc to start with
  24. J, jumping in late on this post, have you decided on your "forwarder" yet, seen you wre looking at the Bison wih kranman, just check on what rotator is fitted, a lot of the smaller kranman stuff is the equivalent to a GV1, and struggle with anything bigger than 300kg, also the boom material isnt as strong as some (twisted the end where the hoses exit the end, no doubler plates round the exit slots), good enough kit for low impact and smaller stuff, but dont quiet have the "guts" for hard work

    Result!!!

once watched a local ned being convincied not to steal cars, it involved a baseball bat, the edge of a kerbstone, and both his hands, surprisingly none of the locals saw anything, and the inability of using his hands seemed to keep his face shut as well, no more car thefts after that
