  1. Why have a sticker that says "magnum" on us stihls? Because it sells. A bigger filter will definitely be an advantage (it'll probably last longer before its clogged), but not sure you'll see performance gains.
  2. At home (in the Netherlands) holly is used in sheep sheds to combat orf, most people that have tried it swear by it. Never heard of specifically male though?
  3. Nope, groundhog day is two days away still. :-)
  4. Some from work and our home one.

    Lidl.

We have both, mixed. Most people don't care so if eBay customer has a preference we can accommodate. Killing some more in the morning for people to collect later in the week, they sold months ago.

  7. My brother's case 5140(?) Has a red top, it replaced two batteries of much bigger capacity. Its been on there for over ten years and never failed to start once... Apart from: every time you leave the radio on for more than an hour or so!
  8. Get over it Marcus, trailers with aluminum chassis have been available for a long time. Making an aluminum trailer strong enough and durable enough comes at such a high cost vs so little gain in capacity that I see no clean up. My trailer is 750kgs-ish, 5m bed, and built to weigh 5500kgs. Its hot dip galvanized.
  9. Farm I work for is over 2000 acres currently and about to buy another 1000-odd acres... Supply tescos, asda, homebase, IKEA, waitrose, a whole host of others and garden centers etc. I think this year they sell 350.000 cut trees and probably another 50.000 potted ones. Trees spaced at 1m, first harvest 6/7 years after planting out, then 3/4 years of cutting before the remaining dross gets mulched under and the cycle starts again. Its a long term investment, with a very short time window in which to earn your money back.
  10. Very nice, my mother was born and raised in Losser, so I have lots of familie in die hoek van het land. :-)
  11. I've been harvesting Christmas trees for a few seasons now, just doing manual labor though and there's serious money to be made. I got near half my annual income last month... Christmas trees are not optional for most people, its a completely captive market with any changes being apparent years in advance. Spending on Christmas seems to only ever increase and this trend is moving eastwards though to eastern Europe. The company I work for loaded over 30 artics a day with compressed palletised trees for over 5 weeks non-stop. There was one morning when 64 of Mr stobarts finest were loaded and left the yard by lunchtime!
  12. Check the top hose to your radiator as the engine warms up (but is not yet hot). If the hose gets warm, replace your thermostat. Should be an easy job, think its right on the front of the engine on those and only costs about a tenner. I don't think its the matrix or controls, with the op saying the needle moves differently from normal. The other suspect would be the pump, if that's not working (properly) it could have similar symptoms.
  13. Thanks for the replies folks! The building plans on the logosol website look handy to have at the very least and their system of interlocking profiles is probably much better than the square edged alternative. The cashen ones look like they were made using the logosol kit? Any advice on what wood to use would be great too.
  14. Has anybody made a hot tub? I want (well, the wife wants so I Need!) A hot tub. I was thinking egg-shaped, barrel construction with straight (vertical) sides, about 10x6ft. I'd thought to use a heap of 4x2" with the edges cut to the appropriate angle, single dowel near the top. The bottom to have a groove routered in for the floor. The whole lot held together by two stainless hoops all the way round and obviously wood fire heated. What wood would be best? I was thinking Cedar or even Douglas? The floor I thought just 12mm marine ply doubled up on a simple framework of 4x2's. Any experience, thoughts, hints and tips would be gratefully received. Cheers, Daniel.

  17. Erm, trick or treating is as English as it gets? It was done before Europeans sailed to the America's.
  18. This! Your brakeaway cable was not attached, posing a much greater potential risk to anyone who dared leave their house that day. Pay up, learn, move on.
  19. Jeep grand Cherokee. Good car, MB engine, 3,5t trailer weight.
  20. The Engelbert Strauss vented trousers are excellent, hard wearing and light. About £150 delivered I think.

    Twins.

My girls are 7 now. Won't say it was easy, but I wouldn't want it any differently coz its been the best thing ever so far! As they started to really communicate they had so much fun with each other it made up for any amount of sleep deprivation. I'm self employed with casual labour hired in so I work when I fancy it (I have nearly all the school holidays off) I make sure I'm there for dinner Evert night, I read the bedtime stories etc. I just don't want to miss any more of their childhood than I have to.
  22. Well, for me there is a positive outcome of this thread. No, I don't hold shares in Royal Dutch Shell or even BP but I've been holding off buying a big barrel of aspen for a while as I'd feel right hard done by if the price was suddenly dropped after I'd got it. No chance of that happening by the looks of it though...
  23. Bungee a length of plastic pipe to the chute to get it a bit closer to the truck more accurately. Bungee a tarp/piece of tight mesh between the front top of the chipbox and the chute, creating a tent.
