  1. Does it fall short of the truck, does it spray chip rather than have a nice jet, does it blow back out once in...?
  2. How about cutting/grinding it all flush and smooth and sticking an ally heatsink to it? As Peatff says, can't hurt to try it.
  3. Something about threads in the employment section not having the option of posting replies.... Why was that again?
  4. Not quite... Winter tires tend to be better than summer ones under wet and/or slippery conditions up to 15-20℃ (-ish, depends on make etc). Whilst they offer dry weather grip of levels lower than summer tires most accidents that involve skidding happen in the wet. Which makes a better case for running winter tires year round than summer ones.
  5. Well, how much does it weigh?
  6. Then I'd just bolt them down freshly sawn and not worry about rebates or such. They wont get any bigger than fresh unless the tree has been down for a very long time.
  7. Would seem like the pawls are stuck (which is what probably caused the damage in the old one?) Make sure they van move freely with no resistance at all bar the spring. It also looks like the one on the left in that picture is bent ? as it looks to be at a different angle than the other one?
  8. 10 to 15% depending on the tree and how dry it'll get. Would it matter much to have some gaps? Could even be useful to drain water?
  9. I had an unsatisfying transaction on eBay that cost me some money. I set up a new account, then set up an alert to send me an email when the -person- listed anything for sale. I'd nearly forgotten about it when 18 months later: ping! -person- is selling stuff. I bought everything he had for sale, he sent it all in one parcel, with one tracking number. I then reported to have only received one item (the cheapest...), not the 20-odd I'd bought. Que some messaging to and fro, an ebay complaint case etc then a refund for 19 items. I'd intended to sell them on to reclaim my money but in the end I just chucked it all in the bin, happy with my revenge,
  10. Just under 6t, 5.87t
  11. Shame, I have a reliable supply of blackthorn...
  12. Prunus any good?
  13. Please do tell us more about discounted motomix! Specifically the discounted part.
  14. Quenta costa?
  15. Thanks, have sent them a message just now:thumbup1:
  16. I've been in contact with Justin about a job last year but because he is not close enough the transport would kill it (adds £500 to a days work). I also don't really need anything quite as powerful as his machinery on this job, so was hoping for somebody a bit more local to Beds. Thanks for the suggestion though
  17. Forgot to say: the job is about 100 yards from my mum's house so there will be tea and there will be cake. If you're good there is scope in the budget for a half of ale at the end of the day as well!
  18. I have a job for a mulched in North Beds, near the village of Colmworth. It the brash from a hedge I layed that the client is not keen on burning. Its all just thorn and brambles and such, and will be a 100m windrow, 9ft wide. I reckon there's about half a days work (though I'm no mulching expert). Anyone like to quote me or suggestions of who I might contact would be good as well. Cheers, Daniel.
  19. I'm going to say differently. Yes a 75cm x 12m log would be a tad over 5m cubed. But I bet your log is 12ft, not 12m. A 12m log of 75cm average would mean its over 6ft at the base. Assuming 12ft you have 1.6m cubed. (0.375m x 0.37.5m )x π x 3.65m
  20. Had the shutters indeed been slammed shut you would have kept it on y'r bloody island. It was a conscious decision not to by the Great British which led to it being exported to mainland Europe! Still bitter, Dutch farmer.
  21. I thought it was a queen, but we've got at least four or five of them together? I thought queens would seek solitude.
  22. Some quite big wasps keep finding their way into the light in my living room and buzzing a baritone buzz when they're there. There's two or three there and one or two that fly on and off. If it was a queen I'd not expect more than one? It doesn't look like hornets as there's none of the reddish colour. But they're far bigger than normal wasps? Some pics of two I just got out of there on graph paper (2-10-20 mm) beside a normal wasp.
  23. Same here plus some burr elm and very Pippy oak.
  24. Any logs that have been dried in a kiln are "kiln dried" That includes logs that have been in a kiln for 5 minutes and lost 0.5% moisture in that time....
  25. Ah well: you Win Sum, you loose some.
