  1. Fire damage?
  2. Pictures would be good.
  3. Something happened...
  4. Mice. (Very curious am I, I also have been known to run with scissors...)
  5. Poor wee thing, trying to find a safe warm home and: Zap!- dead as a dodo.
  6. Cheers mr Quip, nice and simple solution, and cheap to boot !
  7. So I fit a "bypass" around the buzzer thing and switch whether to take the loud or silent path?
  8. Hi, I've just wired a trailer harness to a jeep grand Cherokee, all works as it should but it came with a buzzer. This buzzer buzzes when the indicators on the trailer are on, a safety feature that I believe is now compulsory(?). The problem I have is that this buzzing is infuriatingly annoying! I can't just fit a switch as the signal to the indicator travels through the buzzer unit. I'd like to ditch it and just have a small green led but can I just cut the speaker wires and solder in one or is there a solution off the shelf (I've searched but not found) or is there another way around? Cheers, Daniel.
  9. I presume this has now gone? The OP contacted me and arranged to speak again (twas a late night text, I was in bed already seeing as sesame street was finished) but no more contact since and no reply to my attempts at contact?
  10. When you lay their hedge, make sure to also check if they have any scrap metal, make sure to urinate behind a tombstone with fresh flowers and leave all the brash in a heap in a corner (but not too far out the way, keep it unsightly). Or: you don't know what you're doing, so ask someone who does to do it for you or teach you. I'm finding it hard to believe all the "just have a go" comments on this forum of people who's average opinion seems to be that tree surgery is a high form of art never to be attempted by mere mortals...
  11. Your inbox is full...
  12. I'd be happy to collect that, I'm only a little north from you. I'd mill it so could give you back some planks or I could fashion you some rustic garden furniture or such.
  13. The thing to do is take the wheels of the bin, then replace the axle with one that'll take two wheelbarrow wheels and fix them on with an R-clip. It means the bins are much easier to move, and the bins stack nicely when the wheels are off.
  14. Hook the springs at the bottom (one at a time) then use a long lever resting on the back or side of the box with the top of the spring attached to the lever with some wire/string for easy of maneuvering.
  15. Is it a bit like wedding cake or (flowers etc) then? The same cake as normal but twice the price because of its intended use? I'd mill it, and I'm quite far away. I'm in south lincs, it would take me two hours to get to Leeds. As I'd spend the best part of a day, and a fair bit on fuel etc the best offer I could make would be some homemade sloe gin, some cider and a small hand full of beer tokens. (£50) I know it should be worth more but I'm skint at the moment but would hate to see that burned. Cheers, Daniel.
  16. How much?
  17. Only just noticed what I'd done, sorry. I'll ask a mod to mod.
  18. Next week.
  19. Ive got wood walkers at the moment, but don't think they'll last past a second winter seeing as how worn they are up to now. I do scramble around in hedges all winter so nought but thorns and briars so I suppose that's just as good as it gets? As far as comfort goes, they're OK but I'm glad to get them off as soon as I'm home!
  20. Pull the cylinder off, a little bit of string could do a lot of damage...
  21. Hows about the following: I, the machine owner can buy stickers with a unique element to me (qr code or similar?). Then any associated dealerships (assuming stihl get all their dealership on side and the others catch on too) get a way to scan that sticker and can see instantly whether or not a machine the scan is kosher. Qr codes are easy, scanning them is cheap with a smart phone, connecting the codes to the database can't be that hard if all it needs is a red or green (OK or stolen). I'll pm you my bank details for the royalty payments.
  22. I often use a hand auger as an anchor for winching stuff. Dunno about the petrol ones but my 5" hand auger will not move. I've put loads of stress on mine (winch safety pin snapped before auger moved, fully loaded landy on good tires just slid and yet the auger does not move) Do be careful about soil type though, we have a lot of clay so good anchorage but I use a bigger one (8" ) for loose soils and team them up together on peaty soil.
  23. Stihl inners in carhartt dungarees an option? They would make the meanest, hard wearing ground keks. May be a little warm?
  24. I reckon a whole year of experience should mean at least a 50-70% increase in wages!
  25. Came across this promising new splitter video. The unit is still in the trial phase as there are some issues with cycle time and worries about potential durability issues, but the wedge design is fairly unique and I'd say the whole unit looks very promising. Certainly going to be an affordable contender when the come on the UK market! Further testing is taking place. dumpert.nl - Houtblokkoppen
