  1. Carlo I am proud of you. Sometimes when someone does something for someone else and there is no thanks, that happens. Same for non payment for services rendered, even though no bill was submitted, fuel cost were going to be covered by some one. Your selfless act of kindness and compasion for a total stranger and her beloved pet cat speaks volumes for you as a person and a member of this forum. I commend you. JOB WELL DONE! All the best. easy-lift guy
  2. Good on you, Larry you sly dog!. Geting on the aspca call list is good advertising and that way you can let every future call know there will be a charge for services rendered. Sounds like Karen was just what Larry needed for a job well done. Thanks for sharing and the Happy Ending? All the best. easy-lift guy
  3. Might I suggest an estimator for tree companies or ground supervisor. Maybe you could also be a Gofor and watcher for Kit protection. Not sure what the pay could be but all important jobs for the more mature less fit and strong employee. elg
  4. Good plan, I have done the same when preparing a Landscape design for clients and deduct the charge for the design if they select my company to perform the work, otherwise the client pays for my design work. elg
  5. Yes my saw is secured when not in my hands, It takes more time and is not really convenient and I know there are people watching me to learn my movements and actions. I do not give my enemy any additional ammo to work with against me or my company. elg
  6. If the tree officer treats all others in your working area the same way, than yes I would charge more since time is money. Could just be the TO in question?. That will be interesting to find out. Good Hunting. elg
  7. I concure with windfall. What the MP is suggestion is the the government involve it's self in some sorta of price fixing of a commodity, in the real world it will not occure since there are cartels presently controling supply/demand. elg
  8. Guess I have been lucky or I have not forgot yet. In any case nothing is 100% but the cost to replace and time to do so always makes me think twice. Not really wanting to bust anyones body parts, just my outlook on the matter. Stay safe and do everything you can to protect you kit. elg
  9. Theft is theft, When I am at a job site and I have my equipment is secured and stowed. There are many situations where thiefs are given chances anywhere anytime. If I leave my kit out in the open or in the back of a truck or trailer in plain sight good or bad hood it is up to me to secure it when not in use. It's not left for chance or bad luck, really don't like them odd's., and I don't depend on them. I do depend on myself and always remembering that it is me against them. Them who are willing to steal from a easy mark and never give it a second thought. Everyone must be proactive and never give in to them! easy-lift guy
  10. Again my point exactly. Did you have the saw secured in the back of your truck?, was it in plain sight??, with hundreds of post on this sight when will members learn that you can not leave any thing out in plain sight unsecured at any time PERIOD!. Thiefs are counting on you to be non complacent and un aware of your surroundings, remember they are in business stealing your kit and your business is to protect your kit at all times how else can you earn a living and put food on your table and afford new replacement kit???. For more information and tips visit my thread means and methods on how to protect your kit from theft. easy-lift guy
  11. I just do not understand how hard it is to secure your kit in the light of day weather traveling from shop to job or job to job or job to shop. Folks it does not matter to the thief who is determined and apparently more determined than the owner of said kit to steal it. Secure your Kit!. or have someone stand guard over it when not in use or when something else comes up. Cable and lock it together in between jobs and never take any time in between jobs for granted. The thief's main goal is to take advantage of situations any time any where and place, and they are always on the look out as well. Don't give them the chance or the time of day. easy-lift guy

    snow

Thanks Drew, we have had snow Twice since 1971 here in SW Florida and yes it was unusuall but it can occure. Yes it did melt once on the ground, but I did make a 18" snow man at a Ford dealership for the occasion. Stay warm. elg.

    snow

Should it not snow this time of year in your part of the world? or is it just because it's the first snow fall since 1936? elg
  14. Dear Doctor: IMO glysopate will not leach from the root system of the tree stump you have been asked to treat by your customer. I have treated tree stumps with the active chemical in the past with good results. Since the material smothers the root system or whats left of the tree to final soil temp. I would use and not have any concerns. When I have used said product in the past I make my cut as low to the soil level and carefully pour the material to the edge of the trunk 360 degrees. I believe the material is carried thru the Cambium layer of the tree. Never have figured out why one bores holes in the trunk?. Hope this helps. elg
  15. I would suggest the Sunshine State Florida. I am based in SW Florida and the summer is winding down and the heat is just starting to taper off a bit. It is not NYC and although I have visited NYC on about 6 different occasion's, would still give Florida a try, Prices are very good and will not be increasing until October when season begins. Many different things to do and learn about but not to the point of being overwhelmed. Next place I would suggest would be the Smokey Mountains National Park Lots of trees and nature hiking and generally a lot of fun. Prices for both locals are about the same. Hope this helps, if you make it to Florida look me up for dinner out. Just PM your schedule. All the best. elg
  16. IMO gloves do not cause wrist problems, however repetitive motion injuries such as Carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow and rotator cuff injuries are more than likely the reason your wrist hurts. These injuries are mainly due to improperly holding or using certain types of equipment for very long periods of time. Everything is connected to one degree or another. I was showing a gent my lifting harness yesterday and he was telling me he works with a extended power hedger for searing Christmas trees. This man said right away that the trigger handle on the power hedger would have to be turned 90 degrees in the opposite direction?. Sadly I could see why since over the many years of use he had developed a bit of a Chicken arm from shearing the trees. I explained that he would not have to work against the hedger any more in conjunction with the harness and he was willing to try. Just to see the pain he was in from so many years of the improper use troubled me But I believe he will be better in the future. Working smarter not harder is and always will be the key to any successful operation. All the best. elg
  17. The story from the Telegraph is both sad and true. Could have been written here in the states and often is referred to white/blue collar crime. Back in the 70"s it was the " me generation " or "Pepsi Generation, I want it now" Many got it than and never learned what to do with it afterwards except squander it away and cry like babies even more when they did not get their way. Same to with government when they to did not get their way weather it be for an increase in taxes for additional services or programs cry and blame. We the people voted most of this scum into office perhaps with good intent on our parts but by the same token wanting certain things to take place for a better society overall. The people are and must assume the role of adults and can and should be held accountable for their kids and the elected officials placed in office by their vote. If you are doing something wrong than you must be punished, and it must be consistent. Anything less equals more of the same, different generation with less responsibility and accountability. elg
  18. That's how it starts first a trash can next your car, than what ever order of events in between. Watch your back, stay safe! elg
  19. Sounds like the 19 year old has parents that love him and care for his safety and well being. I hope he learns from all of this and becomes a better person in the future for your country. The present generation going on at the moment are lost causes and should at the very least be put away for a very long time. elg
  20. News finally picking up a great deal over here about the punks running amuck. Hope the cops and troops get thing back in order soon. Restircting the fueling of cans is just plain stupid. Cut their lines of communication and gather all involved. Send them to special "Holiday Camps". Make all of the males give up their clothing and give them Pink jump suits to wear for about 60 days, if they refuse strip them buck naked and watch what a little loss of freedom is really like. For the Female mal contents dress them all in Red jump suits and if they complain let them also go buck naked. Let them do with out everything they never earned or deserved for 60 days and see what becomes of them. Bet 70% or more would be crying fom mom or dad in 48 hours or less. If the parents don't like that arrangement send them to the same adult camp if it's good enough for their kids it's good enough for the parents! Stay safe and watch your back. elg
  21. Over here it the States it was Championship Wresling from Florida. Dusty Rhodes. elg
  22. I am sure that the look on the cabbies face was priceless, sure leaves a grin on this cat owners face. Thanks. easy-lift guy
  23. Virtually no news coverage here in the states. I agree with Andy. Shut down their means of communication and start rounding up the leaders during the day. Send them off to special holiday camps where they can work out what ever is in their collective systems. If they choose to be non compliant leave them until they gain wisdom and understanding, or until they assume room temp. elg
  24. Graham, you do not sound like you are an alcholic to me, I have know many and they could drink you under the table and still manage to come up for more. Moderation seems to be the key with Alcohol consumption. I may have a better idea about this than most since I do not drink alcohol. elg
  25. I was just looking forward to my breakfast janey, after that picture looks like Brunch instead! UGH! elg
