  1. Does anyone know where i can get a road towable trailer for the Greenmech CS100 chipper and wether or not they are any good? Thanks.
  2. Ive started storing logs to begin selling them next Autumn and ive noticed a few people about selling them at the side of the road from their van/trailer, etc. Is this legal or do i need some sort of license?
  3. Ha, the tree fell in the complete opposite direction from the wedge he cut out, it could have gone any way!
  4. kill them now while they are asleep, otherwise you'll be responsible for thousands more wasps come spring!
  5. What am i looking at here? a turd, a slug....?
  6. Fascinating thread Ranger Matt, cant believe you actually volunteer to go around picking up needles, i wouldnt do that if i was being paid. Well done. Also what do you think of the BFG All terrains? Im considering getting some for the L200.

    Wood Chip

You could make a lot more money with a lot less hassle by just selling your woodchip as mulch to landscapers, nurseries, etc. All my woodchip gets dumped off at a local nursery, he just leaves it there in a huge pile, turning it occasionally and sells it for about £15+VAT per cubic metre (about 250kgs), and believe me, he sells a lot of it. It doesn't matter what grade it is, what tree it came from or wether theres the odd stone in it. No need for a concrete base or even a hardcore base, just a corner in your field/yard will do. If i had the space this is what i would be doing with it!
  8. Ive been looking through some articles on google and have found many articles claiming you shouldn't burn treated wood, mainly for health reasons, but i am yet to find any definitive proof that it is actually illegal. Forest Firewood
  9. I was under the impression that it was illegal to sell treated timber (offcuts, fence boards, posts, etc.) as firewood however i have noticed a few ads on gumtree where people are doing this. Can anyone shed any light on this subject?
  10. Its spelt 'Licensed', not licenced. 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm!....sounds a bit desperate 'We accept cheques'... i would like to think so Mobile number only, not good Pink paper, surely green would be better? Looks like a gypos flyer
  11. You wear white trainers when out giving quotes?
  12. Lol, brilliant!
  13. Conspiracy! Buried at sea only a few hours after he was supposedly killed? Only one grainy photo of his dead body....could be some loolkalike, happened on a western bank holiday in the early hours of the morning when everyone is off work...good time to celebrate, i think he died years ago and they are just taking the credit for it...good morale boost for USA.
  14. Maybe you should watch the vid before criticising my post, the old dear must have been in her early sixties and she was dandering around under the conifer as he was throwing branches down, no PPE whatsoever. If this guy needs help he should hire a competent groundie on a part time casual basis, not use his mum. On another point, its a bit different to compare your mum helping you to your dad. I have also had my dad help me out on a few jobs when i was starting out, but tree work is not a womans job, certainly not an elderley womans job!
  15. Imagine bringing your mum to work with you ! what was he thinking?
  16. Looks like Fred Dibnahs shed!
  17. Glyphosate is very innefective at kiiling marestail, your better off with something like Timbrel. Its not cheap at £50 per litre but its very effective. Another good product is Verdone, this is a domestic selective herbicide for use on lawns. It costs around £10 a litre in B&Q, although you will have to use a concentrated dose and probably 2 to 3 treatments. Basically anything with the active ingredient MCPA will work but avoid glyphosate based herbicides.
  18. He sounds like a bit of a ****.
  19. Hes dead.
  20. Dont you have a trailer to take the rubbish away? The smallest chipper i would recommend is the Greenmech CS100, anything smaller and your just wasting your time.
  21. If i was using my own saw, fuel, oil, sharpening, etc i would be needing at least £100 a day. Otherwise your better off just going and working as a groundie for someone. What happens if you need a new saw, where are you going to get the money for it?

    Lawn Advice

Hollow tine aeration does very little for drainage. You will need to put a proper drainage system in with drainage pipes at least 60 cm down to have any real effect. A lot of work involved but necessary for very damp lawns.
  23. zero. I deliver it to a local nursery who store it for 6 months then sell it for mulch.
  24. I would agree with that. There is absolutley no reason for a fully qualified, CS 30,31,38,39, arb insured tree surgeon with tipper truck and 12" chipper to charge the same hourly rate for trimming a hedge as he would topping a 50ft Beech just because of his running costs. If your costs are too high then leave it for a professional gardener/landscaper to do, just because they dont have qualifications or arb insurance doesn't mean they are any less capable of doing the job. The customer should't have to pay over the top prices for hedge trimming because of your high running costs!
