  1. Ive been considering offering an emergency call out service but need a bit of advice first. Lets say you get a phone call at 11pm and a large tree has just blown over blocking a customers driveway, do you phone up your staff and go out there and then or do just tell the customer you'll be there first thing in the morning? Ive spoken to the boys about it and they aren't too keen at working out of hours. Another aspect is pricing, do you charge time and a half, double time, etc. and do you have a set call out charge? What happens if you all go out to an emergency call out and tell the customer its going to cost £500 to clear the tree just for them to say "sorry that's too expensive"? Any advice would be welcome guys.
  2. I agree with Stephen, this sounds like a 30-40 minute job to me, I would do it next time im in the area and charge about £50.
  3. There was a wire mesh fence in the beech hedge, didn't want to catch it. The stumps were cut down to ground level afterwards.
  4. Had 6 small pines and 4 medium sized poplars to take down today, they were in a big open garden so we got to straight fell them all which is rare.
  5. Your mad giving that away for free! stick an ad on gumtree and you'll sell it easy.
  6. John Deere 3036E, mainly used for loading woodchip and running the PTO log splitters.
  7. Does anyone know where i can get an artic load of cordwood (softwood or hardwood) delivered in Northern Ireland?
  8. Yeah i thought so. I took a test drive in it back in March but it was way too expensive, i think they were looking about £11k +VAT! I ended up getting an Iveco Daily 35C15 crewcab instead.
  9. Gareth did you get that transit from bridge commercials by any chance?
  10. Ive got a 560XP but ever since i started using it ive had one major problem. The machine starts and runs fine but after about 4-5 minutes the bar starts smoking and heating up, this is because theres no oil coming out. At first i thought it was just a blockage but ive taken it apart and thoroughly cleaned it and its fine. Also it happens everytime i use the saw now. Im using Stihl synthplus oil by the way. Anyone got any advice?
  11. 'Grows to 50ft in 2 years'!? ...yeah maybe if its 40ft tall when you plant it.
  12. Hi Arran, i have a CS100 that im selling if your interested, although im based in NI so might be too far for you to travel.
  13. We were discussing this the other day and someone told me that even if you filter out the red dye they now have ways of detecting it? Not worth the risk IMO.
  14. thats what i would be doing aswell, although i thought if it was a double cab they would still count the 6 seats wether theyve been taken out or not?
  15. tried Aviva, they dont cover NI
  16. ive been phoning around trying to get a few quotes for insurance on a transit doublecab tipper. Most of the companies that ive tried dont insure double cabs as they have too many seats, ie 6, and the companies that will insure it are very expensive. Best quote so far £1300 for 28 year old, 1 year NCB, no convictions. Is it cheaper to insure a single cab tipper then?
  17. Thanks mate, £500 isnt too bad, i was expecting a bit more.
  18. Hi Gareth, you know anywhere in NI that makes alu sides?
  19. Really? the dealer told me they were factory fitted.
  20. I thought it was a bit pricey compared to similar models i saw on autotrader but it does have factory fitted alloy sides, does anyone know roughly how much they would cost if i was to buy a standard tipper and get them fitted after?
  21. *anything i should look out for
  22. Im thinking of getting a transit tipper, went to look at this one today, 2008 single cab, 115bhp 6 speed, 70k miles, 1 previous owner. price is £10,450 + VAT. What do you think? and anyone i should look out for? Thanks. Small Vans Sales, Medium Vans, Large Vans, Fridge Vans, Mini Buses for Sale in Northern Ireland (NI)
  23. Thats who i bought the CS100 off, i was looking on his website but didnt see any trailers on it so i assumed he didnt do them. I'll give him a call. Thanks.
