  1. I like to keep it to around 3-4 weeks max, i find that few people are willing to wait any longer and I don't like losing work because of it. If I start getting too busy I reduce my advertising and if the workload drops down to about 10 days or less then i'll increase advertising.
  2. When we arrived to prune a 70ft high Ash tree, "How are you going to get up there? with scaffolding?". When we pushed the Greenmech 19-28 down the customers driveway "where do you want to plug it in love?" Comment from a 70 year old retired man wanting a large Eucalyptus dismantled "I was going to do it myself but I just don't have the time". And the all time classic "theres some light getting in now!"
  3. tried it for about 3 months, averaged about 5 clicks a day costing about 70p per click, didnt see any noticeable increase in work so cancelled it.
  4. Thanks for taking the time to give all that advice, I will give the client the option of either felling or pollarding the tree, either way I should be doing it in about 4 weeks and will put up some photos if I do fell it. Many thanks.
  5. Here is a photo of the tree, (apologies for the poor photo quality my camera was on a special setting). The tree is located in a hedge directly alongside a small country road with both LV and phone lines running through it. The tree is quite bare already and has a fair bit of dead wood, most of the new growth seems to be coming from the bottom of the tree. The clients main concern is safety and if there is any chance the tree could fall over im sure he would be happy enough to take it down.
  6. Can anyone tell me what this fungi is? I found a lot of it growing on a rather poor looking mature Ash. I was originally planning on pollarding the tree but after discovering this im wandering whether I should just fell it?
  7. I need an experienced and competent climber for occasional sub contracting, must be self employed. I can supply all the relevant kit, ppe, etc. Willing to pay £15 an hour for a good climber. Im based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Give me a ring on 07884412853 if your interested.
  8. Does anyone know of any companies in Northern Ireland that purchase woodchip for Biomass fuel?
  9. Might dull your saw a bit cutting it up! 4 tree stumps | Finaghy | Gumtree
  10. Looks like they are trying to grow those birch into a hedge, far too close in my opinion.
  11. Anyone around the Belfast/Lisburn area want some free woodchip? I need a few sites to take it on a regular basis. Call me on 07884412853 if your interested.
  12. When I get a new rope I throw it out into the yard for the dogs to chew on for a few days, gets it nice and rough. Ive only had 2 or 3 snap on me.
  13. You almost hit your groundie at 0.39!!!!
  14. I think you'll need to give us a bit more info than that....
  15. For any of you who sell composted woodchip mulch how do you go about advertising it? I sell about 95% of mine through a free ad on gumtree, the rest is through facebook, website, ad in paper. etc but im still not selling as much as I would like. What other means of advertising would you recommend to help me sell it? Here is my gumtree ad: Composted woodchip mulch | Belfast | Gumtree
  16. That 2.5 tons of pine looks more like half a ton of Leylandii to me.
  17. As far as I know this does not apply to vans and 4x4s, only vehicles with a GVW of more than 3500kg.
  18. Couldn't agree more. The vast majority of hedges out there are much much wider than they need to be, the customer is just losing space in their garden because they let them grow wider and wider every year.
  19. 40% crown reduction, thinning and lifting on two large sycamores.
  20. You can get one off Skyland for only £3.24, hardly worth the hassle of making one at that price. art-retrieval-ball
  21. Im using it on yale blue tongue 12mm (I think) with a cambium saver and its smooth as silk! So easy to use and descending is effortless.
  22. I always start on 2nd in my Iveco unless im carrying a heavy load or doing a hill start. Is that bad for the clutch then?
  23. I cant comment on the spiderjack as ive never used one but the petzl zigzag is amazing!
