  1. Fair comment, Not ducking down, I said my piece in the thread starter. Not much more to add. I have started the odd "non negative thread" but it's Friday night what do you want "Stihl versus Husky?"
  2. Anyone else dread these unfunny dregs clogging up our Friday night with their self promoting "charridy" horse manure? Last night there was some bloody Spice Girl going down an African river to highlight poverty! Why not give them all the money you received for singing your awful songs? then you can have some of ours!
  3. Laughable nonsense Ty, of course I work for the French, (there are a lot of them in this country) I just don't need to boast about it, or indeed boast whenever I complete a full day and make a few quid! Everyone pays the same. It's a mystery to me why you consider yourself to be the authority on all things French, as if you are the only bloke to start a small business here, I recall you are in a partnership, your mate is evidently the brains of the operation If you find that you have to drop your prices by a third to cater for an ethnic minority which consist of around 2% of your population, why work for them? If you are doing this, and, judging by many of your posts, you and the truth are not closely aquaninted, you're a mug.
  4. Ty I've seen you say this sort of thing before. How can you say you charge the Brits around 60% of what you charge the French? Explain please.
  5. If you or anyone else wants to supply logs for next to no profit, or for "fun" who am I to say no?
  6. Little confused:confused1: You start the thread saying it's a good idea then illustrate that it isn't. €500 after all that work!
  7. Don't waste your time, You've got to buy the cord, cut it, season it (it's usually green) split it, advertise it, then deliver it. Then give half to the French govenment. This is all a bit of a leap from a bloke who didn't want to use a chainsaw isn't it? You cannot compete against farmers who have their own big gear plus their own woods and contacts and experience. Think of something else. (IMO of course!)
  8. One. I'll use the wire strop aswell for postion sometimes but that's it.
  9. Not certain Ty is being serious Jon:001_smile:
  10. Those Echos are very underrated.
  11. Exactly. WD40 and an old file, plus tap in the torque drive with a light hammer before applying pressure.
  12. TW blades are a doddle, an absolute doddle.
  13. Was there not a temptation to ring down with say a 66 and chuck the pieces? Not criticising you're the man on the job, just asking!
  14. Well let's be honest he's 65 now and hasn't even started the job he was trained for yet! (Not being serious:001_smile:)
  15. Haha good point
  16. Yeah, understood, but when I saw the trailer with all that fawning I said to myself "That's one to miss!" Glad it showcased your skill; I do like hedgelaying btw.
  17. I would have watched it except for the sight of that tranny Julia Bradbury going all goo-goo eyes at that arch prat Charles!
  18. Thanks for sharing, I have roast pork for dinner.
  19. I don't agree with all this "we should be recognised as a profession stuff" What for? To gain the respect of people? We just fell and trim trees. I even hate the term "Arborist" All this soft music and profound stuff about nature just makes me laugh.
  20. Brilliant stuff!!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
  21. TBH that is what I'd do. I cannot say with any authority if you will poison any of the others. There are plenty of blokes on here who should be able to help. I am sure they'll be along in a minute. Maybe rename the thread "poisoning stumps"
  22. Poplars can still shoot from runners from a long way from the original stump, Even if you grind the stump you won't get all of it. Cue a forest of suckers!
  23. A year or so ago I bought a piece of gear off another tree bloke in suffolk. Anyway, in the comings and goings to the bank and whatever we got chatting and he revealed to me that he did not drink, at all. Now if a bloke is ill or a wife beater or something well fair enough, but I was amazed that he could not reward himself with some booze after a hard day. It is one of life's greatest pleasures. (Just don't post on AT when the worse for it!)
  24. Above a house, probably, for the right money, above a fence, no. As someone else said put a line up another tree and swing it round.
