    I'm being a bit mischievous 'cos it's on another thread. (hama's pollard thread) I think it's an Oriental plane but I am not sure it's ever been pollarded.

    Obviously I'm wrong, but isn't that the usual growth for an Oriental Plane?

    Yes the rollers have bearings, as for the adjustment it's a rather rudimentary affair involving a welded on nut and a bolt to adjust. Not sure exactly I'll get a pic for you Thursday when we re-start. Will it last? time will tell, repair should be easy enough, and at 3 grand I won't lose the farm if it's a lemon. As I said, a Boxer would have been my preference;

    Good shout Same happened to me but I was lucky, just cost me the pocket, turned the anvil changed the bearings while we were there. Blades had been in for ages 'cos they had stayed sharp.

    Bit cold in the garage atm! The engineer is back next thursday, start painting the weekend after.

    Pete I don't want a row but killing them..... you're 'avin a larf. They'll react well to a good hiding. Not every one will agree but Lombardys are best topped..... and hard. They'll come back strong. One problem is that the roots can sucker after topping causing a mini forest in the adjacent gardens.
