  1. If you have the space build a basic pole barn, as big as you can. Just need some tree trunks/large poles, and 4x2s 3x2s and corrugated iron on the roof. Single pitch roof, 3m high at the front, 2m high at the back, with a nice healthy overhang and a gutter. For the sides either timber slats or mesh, herras fencing, etc Ideal aswell if you can partition it into a few bays so you can separate dry wood from fresh :thumbup1:
  2. Nice video, but I bet you'd have done it in half the time if you weren't having to fanny about with your camera That's a good bucketful you got It's been a poor year for berries and fruit here.
  3. If possible add more ventilation to the log store
  4. My chinese made drill still says "Hitatchi, Tokyo, Japan" on the casing!
  5. Have you looked at steel scaffold towers? The price of them isn't too bad. I've got a set I sometimes use on hedges, find it much easier to work off than a ladder
  6. I think all the big makes like Dewalt, Makita, Hitatchi, Bosch etc do "diy grade" specials , usually to be sold in screwfix etc on a deal at about £100 or so. I've got an 18v li-on Hitatchi drill, again cost about £100, it does my fine for what I need, but it was stamped on the box "made in PRC" Whereas I've got some other proper Hitatchi powertools, made in Japan, and they are in a different league
  7. Nice pond! There's quite a colour to the water, is there peat where you are?
  8. You pull some cracking faces!!
  9. I don't know the difference between all the white umbrella plants, normal hogweed, hemlock, cow parsnip, cow parsley etc etc but I have on a couple of occasions ended up with dozens of very itchy spots and blisters on my arms and back of neck after strimming rough ground. Obviously a reaction to a plant, defiantly no giant hogweed in the area. Now started wearing full length overalls buttoned right up, gloves, and a long visor, fun on a hot day!
  10. Try PJD Smiddy or Caley Sheet Metal in Inverness

    New Radio

Get an old sony or similar off a car boot for a couple of quid, they're usually fairly bulletproof and with good sound, ideal for a shed or where you're working
  12. Would seem like a bad idea! Any bits of dirt etc mixing with the grease would turn it in to a grinding paste
  13. Just bought some "Siat" aluminium line, made in Italy, 2.7mm square. Looks like normal line but with sparkly bits in it! First use of it, nothing special, but will see what it's like next time round after the reel has been in the water for a while
  14. Great cheers, just ordered a set of V12 Defiants, will see how we go
  15. Hi, does anyone on here use tall steel toe cap boots with a side zip? This sort of thing V12 Leopard II High Leg Side Zip S3 Safety Boot VR695 Black Leather UK 5 - 13 | eBay Look handy for when you want to just nip in the house to get something, or change in and out of overalls, waterproof trousers etc My only thought would be the zip might dig in or make the boots uncomfortable. They need to be comfy as I often end up walking miles and miles! Anyone use them?
  16. Get someone local in with a machine and pay them with the wood
  17. Does anyone use the Husqvarna ones in the rain, how waterproof are they?
  18. At my parents house there's a few old blackcurrant bushes (been there for decades!) not far from the septic tank soakaway, every year there's a bumper crop of blackcurrants!
  19. I think octopost was being supplied through the highland machinery ring, might be worth a try
  20. Depends what species it is! Also probably not a tonne, more like a "bundle", so go and have a look, and it will vary from day to day. There is a very good sawmill only a couple hundred yard from me but seems all their slabwood is reserved for others! I did once get a few loads, think it was £25 per bundle which when cut was about a loose 3 cubic metre (loaded in my trailer), most didn't need split and you got some kindling out of it too! That was larch, which makes fantastic firewood.
  21. Send me a pair and I'll write you a review
  22. Just bought a new Laser socket set the other day to add to the collection, 1/2" drive, 6pt sockets up to 32mm, £40 from toolstation
  23. To me a strimmer is anything with a line head on! Be it 25cc or 55cc
  24. Thanks to everyone who replied, new oil seal came in the post today and it's all back together, no sign of a leak but the real test will be when it's sat chugging away on the same spot for hours on end Downloaded and saved the manual, cheers, had tried looking online for one before!
