  1. Mike Pepler, the celebrity! Recognise the name from years ago on youtube!
  2. Maybe I had a bad pair, but I had the same boots a good few years ago, and they didn't last long, the sole fell off
  3. What is wrong with the Queen. Why would you cut down trees just to get a bit of wood out of it. Can she not go down to a timber yard like everyone else. Would somebody please think of the children
  4. You've never seen it then! Old gaelic boy doing odd jobs on folks houses. The only annoying thing is half the time he bodges the job with PVC and silicone! And he likes a good sing and dance
  5. Interestingly, on the episode of "DIY le Donnie" (BBC Alba) tonight, there was a community garden, and the folks were painting a dug out stump/roots with wood hardener, to try and preserve it. Suppose it's a bit like the resin idea. Don't know how well it would last.
  6. This just came up on my youtube. Think I've seen a similar machine before. Just looks like a nice simple relaxed way of producing logs from thin lengths
  7. Hedge waste as in cuttings from a hedge cutter? A chipper isn't going to help much with that
  8. One of the best known faces in Inverness ,apparently accused of rape, and runs off to the US to fake his own death https://www.kion546.com/news/sheriffs-scottish-man-fakes-disappearance-at-monastery-beach/1046018812
  9. If you've got a petrol cut off saw (stihl saw) get a terrasaur blade, about £100
  10. Stephen/htb, if you working near Inverness again, I'm always after logs (cash paid), and can always find a home for woodchip. Less than 10 mins north of the Kessock Bridge.
  11. Not quite the same, Balfor do one incorporating a normal chainsaw, and splitter + conveyors, powered by petrol or hydraulic. I think it will cut 500mm lengths. https://www.balfor-firewood.com/firewood-processors/
  12. 2 old photos of it from t'internet
  13. Are you looking at buying from the dealers in the link? If so I would be a bit wary. I have looked up about them before, same vans appearing in the "auction" every week. Not sure if there's any bargains to be had
  14. It's the same for Stornoway, locals either can't get over to the mainland, or get back home. Ferry full of tourists, with fares subsidised by tax payers
  15. Not helped by the RET though eh?
  16. What I don't understand is, the Scottish government want to lower air passenger duty, but introduce a tourist tax? As someone who never gets on a plane, that tax should be raised
  17. As she's road reg'd, just drive her on to the ferry in stronoway, few quid saved there There's a story of a local guy "back in the day" who drove an old JCB 3c 100-odd miles home. Apparently he went up to get it with his van & bicycle. He would do a few miles at a time, then cycle back to get the van and leapfrog the JCB, and so on. Bike was carried in the van or the front bucket of the JCB
  18. There's many ways to go about things, and nothing is ever perfect. But for the price of the tracked Italian machine, you could probably buy a brand new cs100 and brand new muck truck to tow it with, have spare change, and a chipper that will go most places, not rip up the lawn, and a carry all your other gear (saw, fuel, pies etc) in the skip of the barrow.
  19. I like the fact he goes off the road, impaling himself on the snow gate, and his first reaction is to take photos to list it on gumtree, before even turning the headlights off
  20. When I say collected, I mean winched https://www.gumtree.com/p/seat/car-ditched-cant-afford-to-fix-but-most-likely-a-write-off/1328876262
  21. If you cut a lot of thinner logs, consider a circular saw bench
  22. Al that looks a belter, looks like it would be out of my budget though!
  23. It's a long shot, but does anyone on here have a tipper or a dropside (non tipping) body for a 3.5t for sale? Got a single cab Renault Master with a rotten tipper box. I'm sure a Transit or whatever one could be made to fit? I'm not too fussed if it tips or not Could do a deal with the old tipper ram, pump etc (works fine) if you were doing a conversion
  24. You are more likely to have bother when filling up at a supermarket. Some people believe that petrol from a supermarket isn't quite as good (doesn't have as many additives?). Either way, I don't buy petrol from a supermarket.
  25. If you want £60 off = https://www.topcashback.co.uk/aviva-van-insurance/ (it will take months to appear in your account though) For me, NCB doesn't seem to make any difference, full or none. Never had a claim in my life, but you can only use it on 1 policy at a time
