  1. How did you get on Dan, did you fit an auger in the end, is it any good?
  2. Knock off high lift jack from ebay. Had one already for 2yrs, just got a 2nd one. Probably not as good as the real thing, but good enough for me £36 in total - delivered! Some places would charge you 20 quid just for the p+p on a small box to the Highlands
  3. The best thing they could have done is offer him a free dessert, and mix a turd in the chocolate sauce
  4. I would've thought the best thing (for one or two trees) would be ring it up with a chainsaw, then a go through it with good splitter
  5. I like the fact they even acknowledge that you might have to go to the toilet!
  6. Same, I don't like answering to numbers that aren't local as it will often be junk, but sometimes it does surprise me and you'll get someone with a holiday home or whatever. In saying that, don't think anything good has ever came from a London (020) call
  7. I haven't got the long reach, I've got the 28" cut 'handheld' hedge cutter. The advantage with the backpack batteries is the machine is kept very light. Husqvarna do a PDF with a chart showing batteries and machines https://hgcdn82.azureedge.net/qs_la=en-gb&ver=20190201T125326&hcsh=753E3133E1C6697D2DFC296CDABCCC0EEB216CB8/_$_/media/localcontent/uk/husqvarna/2019/battery series.ashx Husqvarna Battery Products – Battery Series WWW.HUSQVARNA.COM Powerful and reliable battery chainsaws, trimmers, hedge trimmers and ride-on mowers. Suitable for professionals... "The runtimes are up-to times and correspond to work time using savE™: actual work, basic maintenance and movement /climbing needed for generic operations." Bare in mind that doesn't include lunch, cups of tea, sweeping up, blowing, moving ladders dodging flowerpots etc, so in some way you'll get more time than you think.
  8. The machine only deal, I was more meaning from a customers point of view, it might end up costing £300 + a day of their time, and as a newbie to the machine, how much would they actually get through?
  9. I've heard there's someone round here who does tractor, firewood processor, and 2 men for 250 a day Maybe there's extras like mileage, fuel/vat on top, I don't know. At the other end of the scale, a local dealer is hiring out a road tow farmi, machine only, think the price was 250, so that's excluding delivery, fuel and operator.
  10. Haven't seen this posted yet, it was on the news today that they're going to build (some of) it in Bridgend
  11. I wonder if there would be any benefit to killing the tree with glyphosate first, then felling once you knew it was dead, as it would "suck the energy" out of the roots?
  12. Bump! Well it's been a busy year, this job is still on my to do list. Truck is finally going in for an mot tomorrow "bare", only mudguards on the back. Assuming she passes she will then be ready to drive anywhere in the country to collect a new body. Dropside (non tipping) would be fine

    Bargain!

It's a bit like though, on a job with a digger, and you have to bury boulders just to get rid of the feckin things. But there's this mad place where people go and actually buy rocks! (think they call it a quarry?)
  14. Husqvarna do a "small" size backpack at 15.6ah, 7.9kg. To be honest you don't feel the weight as it's on your back, and the harness is so good. Means there's no battery weight on the machine so that's lighter on your arms.
  15. Is the machine in series or parallel? If it's 2x18v batteries you'll get either; 18v 12ah or 36v 6ah I suspect it's the latter?
  16. The only thing with Makita, is they don't do very big batteries (or atleast not that I've seen)
  17. Just out of interest, what do you use the branch loggings for - seems an awfully leafy load!
  18. Enjoy the trip to Fife (I recognise the yard)
  19. If you want low vibe...... https://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products/husqvarna-520ihe3-battery-pole-hedge-cutter-22-cut-2/ Vibration Levels 3.5 / 2.5m/s² (front / rear)
  20. A cheap strimmer with little in the way of anti vibe? Screw that for a game of soldiers. Doesn't sound like the stihl would take much to fix, and surely it would soon be getting parked up for the winter anyway
  21. Hayter Condor would probably do it well, what's the distance between the trees, might want something bigger like a ferris/scag? The Condor has discs with swinging blade tips so hitting stones/stumps isn't an issue, not sure what blades are on the other machines
  22. Dunno what they're saying, but I assume they're trying to show the battery motor (on the left) has more torque than the 25cc 2 stroke
  23. Have you ever used one? I'd looked on your site previously, does the Husqvarna pages need updating, different model numbers from the catalogue?
  24. Has anyone got the bigger Husqvarna battery strimmer? 520iRX What's it like, is it any good for tougher stuff or is it more for edging? What size of petrol machine would it compare to?
  25. Don't know him, but it's apparently Murray Machinery selling the Kubota, and going by streetview, the ebay photos are legit.
