  1. Christ what ever you do, don't visit their website (in sig)
  2. To be legit, I think it should be a men at works sign (of the appropriate size for the speed limit), and take your pick from: Grass cutting; Tree cutting; Hedge cutting; Ditching; Weed spraying; Sign erection; Sign maintenance; Lighting maintenance; Overhead works; On slip road; Surveying; Mobile road works; Road sweeping; Gully emptying; Gritting; Salting; Snow ploughing; Blasting; On hard shoulder; At level crossing https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/203669/traffic-signs-manual-chapter-08-part-01.pdf
  3. I'm sure grabs/grapples, and hydraulic thumbs are great, and much better. No brainer if you're handling lots of timber. But a mechanical thumb is such a simple versatile bit of kit. I've got the Digbits one, which is wider than some, I'd already seen them at work on my friends machines https://www.digbits.co.uk/grip-talon.html Advantage with it aswell is you can fold it back out the way and continue digging with the bucket.
  4. How cheap do you want? If you bought a used Honda off ebay for the right price, and assuming it's not stolen or knackered, you could use it for a couple years and sell it on for similar to what you paid for it.
  5. I don't need one, but interested to know more.....?
  6. Cautrac do a basic one (and atleast it will come with their backup), can't rememeber the price but about 1500-2000 + vat. https://www.cautrac.com/product/350/ Quite a few used machines of various makes on ebay (Honda are obviously a safe bet) But if you want to go a across lawns, a wheeled machine is safer than tracks
  7. I hope you made it further north than Gretna services
  8. This is a funky homemeade machine, uses gravity to hold the logs in place as they are cut Just need to plan your route avoiding low bridges
  9. (Jockey wheel is deliberately removed so it works as an adjustable stand, and doesn't roll about. You wind the handle to level the chipper/ adjust infeed height to suit ground conditions)
  10. Yes the chute could be improved 50mm tow bar:

    Centrewire gates

Would the IAE gates not be any use? https://iae.co.uk/product-agriculture/5-rail-bridle-gate/
  12. Slowly doing up a house here, found a good website for paint and decorating supplies, https://www.trade1st.co.uk/ good prices, service, easy to use site, and no issues with delivering to the Highlands. Some of the suppliers who advertise on arbtalk could learn a thing or two
  13. Cheers, mine is similar year, it's the same colour scheme, about 3800 hours on it (if the clock is genuine).
  14. I'm a nosey git, stick up some photos of the k008 (I have one too)
  15. I've got a fair bit of painting to do this summer, so I bought an old trailer mounted cherry picker, cost less than that alloy scaffold tower. Admittedly it was off a mate, so you may/may not find a similar machine. And it won't go everywhere a tower would. But for me it will get a good bit of use
  16. Unfortunately not galvanised, but I've got a steel tower from Quickfit Scaffold Towers, they make them at their place in Shipley near Bradford. They're a good company to deal with, and over the years I have added more parts to it, extra frames, wheels, outriggers. And last year a set of half size frames, to make a rectangle pair of towers to go up a narrow gap.
  17. Basically the woman wanted them to do extra work, and she wasn't even paying them for the job, or had the authority to let them cut the extra trees?
  18. This is why it can get messy working at a rented house, tenant wants one thing, landlord wants (or wants to pay for!) something else.
  19. Hi folks, I'm after people's opinions/advantages/disadvantages on whether a harness should be worn (and if so, what type) when using a small towable cherry picker. Not sure on max height, but it will roughly reach up to the roof of a 1.5/2 storey house, which is the height you'd go up on a ladder anyway. This is not in a work setting, and there might not be a 2nd person nearby to rescue in the event of things hitting the fan. If a harness is to be worn, is a normal builders/scaffolding one suitable (leaves you hanging by your back) And should it be a fall arrest or restraint (fixed strop)?
  20. Whats your location, got a motor/tank/ram here
  21. I've always thought, what Northern Ireland needs is a referendum, to sort it out once and for all
  22. Have you tried looking them up online? If you want help pm me, I'm a good stalker
  23. 2 kittens curled up in the firewood (don't know why they didn't just go in the cat flap!)
  24. You wouldn't want to do this commercially, but its ok for filling a barrow for home
  25. First time I've seen this, backpack strimmer meets polesaw meets easy lift harness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5zxZUR8Kj8
