  1. Here's another one that is the hen's water trough. When it freezes over just give it a boot on the sides to break the ice. Or if it's really bad, smash through the ice with a spade
  2. I've got the Stiga branded, 52cc Kawasaki engine brushcutter. I'm sure it's actually made by someone else though? And tbh I quite like it, good bit of kit for the money
  3. IMO, get the biggest mower that will fit. There's various ones in sizes like 26"-28"-30"-32" etc
  4. 25l drum tool tote This one has been in use for years! Just drill 4 holes for the rope and poke it through, then melt the rope ends into a blob
  5. And here was me thinking it might be something like "le tattie du oven"
  6. Sounds like a local wood that was a community "buy out", paid for with various grants and public money it's like a theme park now
  7. Old 20/25l drums have loads of uses, I use them for diesel, used engine oil, water for knapsack spraying, ballast weights etc Cut the sides open, thread 2 bits of rope through, and they make good strong trugs for carrying logs, tools etc. Oil drain pan Water trough for animals (I have one in with the hens) Parts & tool tray for when you're working under vehicles The plastic (hdpe) they're made from is very durable, frost proof, can be thrown about, kicked, dropped
  8. It's funny you should mention signature, there is/was a way of getting out of speeding tickets in Scotland by sending the form with the drivers details back unsigned, and then not answering the door for a few months.
  9. Does it say anything about cats on duty keeping the mice away from air filters, rubber hoses on machinery etc
  10. Yeh, I can't see any air vents or way to empty ash
  11. Spend the 5k on solar panels and get a chiminea for the patio
  12. Unless you mounted it at the top of a tower, would be no good for working infront of, it will blind you and create big shadows. Maybe buy a 2nd hand lighting tower? Look a lot of good ones on ebay for a grand, probably little deprecation in them if you needed to sell it on in a years time
  13. I've had a muck truck max for about 5/6 years This video had me sold, you can see it's a well thought out rugged machine:
  14. The muck truck (max) is a good solid bit of kit, adding a hydraulic tip to it seems a bit unnecessary, more weight and expense. You could even use it to tow your arb trolley out (slowly, in reverse)
  15. Big logs for a big stove, cutting them to lengths of about 450mm, the biggest the splitter will take, mix of spruce, pine, birch, hemlock

    Overloaded

A load can be strapped down but still an insecure load, here's a good example
  17. I didn't know Dyson had made a chipper, was it bagless?
  18. That is some skill!! You'd think it would be easier without the gloves though? The recommended video that came up after that was this, skip towards the end, that is some hedgecutter, looks like it has a cut of about 2m
  19. Thanks everyone Never did update this thread, got the above erbauer 15kg breaker. When I looked it up, the dewalt with anti vibe handles was £700+, which is a bit much for the amount of use it would currently get with me. The erbauer is ok, defiantly a help on post holes. The downside is the obvious one, the length of the chisel, and that you can't buy longer. Maybe at somepoint I'll see if I can weld 2 together
  20. The Balfor one is good, well made, plenty of steel in it. They have changed the models about now, and the newer ones have more guards Logging Saw Benches – Balfor WWW.BALFOR-FIREWOOD.COM
  21. Don't know the machine, but from the manual: "If the engine or the battery are out of order, the grass-catcher can be opened manually: insert the key and sit on the driver's seat. In this way the hydraulic valve is relieved. Push the button to open the grasscatcher (fig, 5, n. 13) and open the grass-catcher manually. The battery is located under the grasscatcher in the rear part of the machine (fig. 33, A). If it is out of order, the battery can be removed and recharged." http://www.grilloagrigarden.co.uk/operators_manual/fd450
  22. We use a bit of smokeless in the stove overnight, it makes a huge difference to the temperature of the house, and is a hell of a lot cheaper than electricity.
  23. 20 minutes long, here's a video on a guy who fixes up written off teslas, much to their annoyance
