  1. Horses for courses innit, one of my current run a rounds cost less to buy than the Husqvarna battery!
  2. How much oil does the machine get through in a day? Have you tried it on straight rapeseed oil?

Yes you can run a small pto compressor off the engine, you sometimes see it on mobile workshop/utility type vans (Transit). A little Honda engine would be cheaper to run though, and you wouldn't be putting the wear on the van.
  4. Great, stick some photos up of the field, always interesting to see. I've had the hayter for a good over 2yrs now, it was an 800 mile round trip, rare to see them for sale up here.
  5. Try and separate as much soil as possible (maybe a rake bucket) then burn the roots
  6. Who would've thought there was a website for 2nd hand marquees! I like this one, it's a local company that makes prefab houses that's selling it https://curlew.co.uk/listing/25267/25m-diameter-inflatable-dome-Scotland "Can seat 700 people plus stage An arctic truck can drive straight into it!"
  7. I used to have a hydraulic breaker, didn't find it much use for post holes. Too heavy and awkward, hard to get it to stay on the offending rock, if it slid off it would bury into the soil and be a pig to pull out
  8. Yes most of them look the same. Wonder what the minimum size would be to have a chance of breaking rock? 7.5kg Hitachi https://www.toolstop.co.uk/hikoki-dh-40mey-sds-max-brushless-rotary-demolition-hammer-240v 10kg Dewalt https://www.toolstop.co.uk/dewalt-d25899k-10kg-sds-max-breaker-demolition-hammer-110v-p10672 A rotary hammer would possibly get used for other jobs (drilling) too, but might no be any good for heavy breaking? ps got the digger but I want post holes not mass graves

I can't remember if I posted this or not, this was march last year, the guy was heading from Inverness to Skye (100-odd miles), in the dark, fortunately he got pulled over. "It was being used to transport lengths of rolled steel joists, the longest more than eight-metres long. The driver had removed the front passenger seats to push the joist into the foot well – but despite this there was still 3.45 metres sticking out the rear of the van." Although he'd made an effort by taping the hi vis vest to it, it was on the top edge so you wouldn't even see it from behind
  10. Yes the Draper one claims to use a 30mm hex chisel, which seems almost impossible to get different/longer bits for. But I would've thought chunkier was better?!
  11. Cheap spares, hope you haven't seen the price of 2 blades

Don't think this one was posted, from 2 weeks ago in Glasgow https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-49999317

I bet that van was back on the road fully loaded the next day
  14. I remember seeing that in the lidl leaflet at the time, didn't think it would be heavy enough to break rock/concrete etc?
  15. Planning aside, I would look at come sort of container/lorry body etc (don't know how much headroom you need?) It would still have a resale value if you needed to get rid of it.
  16. I'm not a planning expert, but...... "Do I need planning permission for a marquee in my garden ? One question I am often asked is ‘do I need planning permission for a marquee in my garden ?’ The short answer to this is NO, as long as the marquee is not up for any longer than 28 days. If you need the marquee to up for longer than 28 days then you will need some kind of planning permission." https://www.bsw-marquees.co.uk/blog/2014/06/03/do-i-need-planning-permission-for-a-marquee-in-my-garden-2/
  17. Has anyone had much success using a circa 15kg electric breaker/demolition hammer for digging post holes in very stoney ground? The sort of tool you see advertised in screfix/toolstation ie https://www.toolstation.com/draper-expert-1700w-185kg-breaker/p21125 Either for trying to break up large rocks, or at the very least dislodge them enough to be removed with shuv-holers I have in the past used a 30kg hydraulic breaker (regrettably I sold it) and it was semi-useful. The problem was if it got stuck in the soil, it was an absolute pig to pull out due to the weight of it, and being well buried. (I work on my own)

Cheshire HGV Cops‏ @Cheshire_CVU The driver has not long left our check site having waited for a more suitable vehicle. He weighed 3470 kg’s empty so if you need some helium filled ballooons transporting, we know just the firm. Payload of 30kgs
  19. I've no experience of a tracked tractor, but have you looked at tracked dumpers? Something in the 1t-2t range? You'd get a second hand one quite easily, and it should hold it's money and be fairly easy to sell on if ever needed.
  20. I've got a number of IBC cages spare if they're of use to anyone on here. They've been cut down in height by a couple of rows, but you can double them up and tie them together. No pallets or tanks, just the cages.
  21. Can you not get a pipe in the stream further up, to avoid pumping. Just reminded me of chatting to a couple of council workers who were putting a pipe in a burn for an animal trough. Don't know why the (cash strapped) council was doing it and not the farmer, maybe it has to be done "properly" to tick the boxes. It was just a length of mdpe wedged under a stone.
  22. A bigger gate Finger bar on an excavator? You haven't posted a photo. How thick is the stuff you're trying to cut? The chainsaw hedgecutter attachment is useful but pricey for what it is
