  1. it depends if the unit used to work better and now it is a bit crap or if it was never much good and you need it to work harder? If it was never much good then you are a bit stuck with it.
  2. I did wonder if the US had designed Crypto to pull all the money back out of China after they bailed out our Banks with the money they had made selling us cheap shyte! How's that for conspiracy!
  3. You can make figures point out anything and make it look good. My ex boss once said that DSG shares had done well, sure, over the last year they had but over the last 10 years, had dropped from something like £10 to £0.50 and had gone up to £1.00....just depends how you look at the figures. IMO, it is worth looking at 10 years, 5 years, 1 year and 3 months and you basically look for good and steady performance for an easier ride. The Bitcoin charts wood scare the crap out of me
  4. The doubling of money used to be estimated at 5 years in good funds but has slacked off a bit but over the last few years, the markets have had a very good time of it so it really depends on when you enter, how long you stay in and how well you select your funds. I was making the point that a 30 year old has some 25+ years ahead of work so has the opportunity of making that £100k work for him so even on your 10 year estimation it would be £200K after 10 years, £400k after 20 years and perhaps £600k after 25. Not too shabby but also not cast in stone and NOT guaranteed just a bit more lively than 1% from a bank savings account!
  5. Yes, the flat return springs break if crap builds up under the housing.
  6. Mmmm, not so chipper now! As I keep saying, time will tell. South Korea threatening to make Crypto illegal down to the difficulties in collecting capital gains tax gave many investors the willies. I am sure other countries are looking on!
  7. Most people would opt for a holiday, new car, new things etc and then end up with an insignificant amount and not much to show for it in 5 years. If you are relatively young, your 100K invested may double every 5-8 years so work it out, it may mean you carry on struggling for a few years but may mean you can take it damn easy in your 50s when you are beginning to think there is more to life. If you are close to retirement then £100k will give you £5k a year for all your days - that is what the industry works on. £100k could buy you a small house of flat, depending on where you live. This would give you a return of 4-6% if you buy to let and if the property prices go up then a bit more but you have the hassle of tenants and they can be big. The point - £100K may change your life a bit but not massively - put down the Aston Martin catalogue - the running cost will kill you!!! BUT, £100k over say 20-30 years WILL change your life if you are prudent and a bit clever!
  8. Depends on how old you are. If you are 20-35 then, if invested wisely, it would lead to a nice and early retirement.
  9. Hope you cleaned under the inner cover as well!
  10. I don't mind a bit of Sahlamar but then again I like anything from Mozart to Motorhead!
  11. TBH, both manufacturers have made great saws and will probably continue to do so. It is a bit like arguing which is best, Ford or Vauxhall or whatever. I work on both and both have their good and bad points!
  12. A 560 will rev to a little over 14,000 and is monitored by the AT unit. That maximum RPM is no different than most pro 60cc saws on the market! I think people remember the 242XP and 346XP and it has stuck as ALL Husqvarnas rev like mad! Modern saws burn a lot less fuel, less fuel means less oil and therefore bearing manufacturers and oil manufacturers have a job to do to ensure these areas are working well. Popping down to the garden centre and sticking some red shyte in your spanking 560 isn't the best idea. I love the comment "End Off" as if it was some sort of decisive and final comment to beat all and comes from a higher being than us mere mortals. I had a boss that liked the "End Off" comment and he was a twat and not half as smart as he like to think he was PS - not calling the fella that used the comment a twat as I don't know him!
  13. Not a problem at all, keep doing what works for you and guess using old fuel is saving you having to spend out £££ on fresh fuel. The BP document does say two weeks for fuel to reside in equipment and to use beyond that with caution but keep doing what you are happy with.
  14. Motomix and Aspen will be fine within the guidelines and shelf life of the fuel!
  15. People have just heard of Stihl a lot more. Just need to look at motorsport on TV to see the name and then everyone believes that they are the best because they have heard of them. I believe the phenomena is called "Fake News"
  16. I have done a number of seized MS880/088s in my time and when asked if they empty the tank after using the saw because of infrequent use, most just stare at you blankly and ask why. A saw will be more likely to seize if run under heavy load for prolonged use through larger timber!
  17. I'm blaming mushrooms of the magic variety.......bad stuff!
  18. I was commenting more on stating that it is fine to run a saw on old fuel and not stating the parameters of the actual test. I reckon if you stuck a 20" bar on the 390 and did half an hour continuous ringing up of 2' timber with old fuel, it wouldn't last but it is always the owners choice what they do!
  19. Damn good advice, when people take you up on it, they can give me a call and I will rebuild the top end for them - will keep me in business I don't know how much you cut, the size of the wood, the length of time the saw was under full load, the bar length, the tune of the saw, how rich in oil the initial fuel was, what your fuel is......I use old fuel in my lawnmower! Your choice though.
  20. When you do the cap up, the air the cap traps when done up compresses the fluid in the tank, same on every tank. If the breather fitted is two way, it will leak a little. I don't know too much about this machine or the breather fitted though.
  21. And that is what we pay our taxes for! A local guy had a break in at his yard, a few hundred grands worth of tractor units and trailers there but didn't get pinched, he interrupted them, got the whole thing on video and zero interest from the local police. Sorry to hear of your issues, never good and not made easier by substandard police service - think they should slap "To Serve and Protect" on the side of the police cars, it may remind them what they are there for!
  22. Interesting times, I still don't get this Crypto thing.....well I do get how it works and what it is for but the increase in value reminds me of the Dot Com boom....and bust. Just don't invest all your savings in it....just saying!
