  3. Hi Joe, Probably be safer if we did say Friday if that's ok. Ed Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Mine does that when you lift the handle to get the cutting wheel deeper. It's especially cool if your grinding at dusk - flames from the engine and sparks from the wheel hitting stones. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Early days and I wasn't using it in a nice broad crown where I think it will be at it's best. It doesn't self tend as well as i would have hoped. It does creep through but if your pulling yourself up your rope it will general loop down before it tends. As said by Dexta, there is very little sit back and the best thing is the rapid descents. I've tried a spider jack a couple of times and found it tricky to control but with the zz it's ace. Playing around at the end of the day I did 30ft in two bounds. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Will be trying mine out tomorrow. I found it difficult trying to tread some 13mm scorch through. Be interesting to see want my normal climbing line is like through it (limelight - 11.7mm ish ?). Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Petty standard work around my village but that's parish councils/councillors for you. City councils SHOULD be a different story. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Looking at a MS180 for brother-in-law. Mmmmm, i wonder why it's difficult to start and run? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Don't sell firewood myself but my Dad does. He's pretty much been sold out by Mid December for the last 5 years. When he starts getting low he does keep the rest back for regulars. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. I've heard of gussets but there in a different thread. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Sorry, just commenting on thinning in general. You are right, a dense Holm Oak probably won't have a lot in inner growth. I have on occasion done work with the intension of stimulating new growth or encouraging existing lower growth as being a future reduction point. I'm sure it's a better method (for the tree) than just mullaring it in a oner. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Tony didn't mention removing inner crown growth. Thinning's been mentioned which done properly means removing select branches from the tips allowing more light to the inner crown. Removal of all inner crown growth is known as lion tailing which is not a recommended practice. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Good vid Tony. I hate it when hey don't fall when their suppose to. Had an Ash do that to me on Wednesday. Had to take the hinge down to a wafer. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Ok, i've got the whole of next week booked out for The Wildlife Trust and I know access to one of the worksites is a long drag so will definitely be needing it for the first half of the week. Until I see want else they have for me I can't say for sure which day you can have it. Will probably know by Tuesday. Ed. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Are you Joe from Chrishall? I may be needing mine on Thursday but if not then you can borrow it. What's your work site like? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Have recently up'd my prices to try and shake off being a busy fool. Must admit that after a very quiet December and January it was hard to resist dropping prices again. There are so many pop up firms about now (most of them are the door knocker types). One village near me now has three resident tree surgery firms. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Climb and rig Ty - just wear a life jacket and put some water wings on the chainsaw. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Few years back when i step cut a big lateral branch on a chestnut my 200T got trapped. Just managed to hang onto it long enough for it to come free as I didn't fancy a Stihl jigsaw puzzle. Did tear the av's to bits though. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. As said, the easiest way is to switch down a file size when nearing the end of the chains life. I do regularly file at 10 degrees off flat which brings the file out of contact with the tie straps but i always file freehand - it may be more difficult if using a file guide. 20. Sounds like we may need to reserve the whole camp site. I think it should be new gear trying rec climb before the cider, ariel rescue practice after a few. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. If spud's still got it next time i go to see my sister in Rayleigh i'll take it with me ( don't see her very often thou). Alternatively come up to Suffolk for the cider weekend in March. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. My missus moans at me for going on arbtalk very night but TreePuncher you've got to have priorities. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Whenever i can i but Stihl chain. Just don't like Oregan - for anything. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Do these people still have irish accents state side? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. I would agree with the 346 but unfortunately you can't buy them new any more so you may need to look for a s/h one. It's worth noting that if your going to use it for your CS30/31, you'll need the bar length no more than 15". Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
