  1. Write it all down, be disciplined, put phone numbers in the book when you get the initial call - I’ve missed loads by relying on WhatsApp, texts, voicemail etc so ensure I write it all down now. Home phone, mobile and email if needed. Still get caught out but not too often nowadays
  2. Agreed on some of those points too - so many mates were boasting of skiving off, sleeping on night shifts, skimming off their employer’s etc. however at British Leyland, whether the workers grafted or not, the products were generally pretty crap! Just think of the Allegro, Maxi, Marina, Rovers and Triumphs - so many poorly designed, badly engineered heaps that the workers didn’t really have a future. Add in all the strikes in the 70s and the writing was on the wall for a long while
  3. I drove through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia back in 1994 and everyone was thin - food was expensive and wages low. Not been back since so can’t compare how it is now
  4. I remember Freddos being 2p - early seventies just after decimalisation
  5. Oops - expensive mistake! Similar vein last year I took this
  6. Prussia hasn’t existed since before WW2 😏
  7. I use an msa160 with a 12 inch bar for nearly everything up to about 18 inches with a 300 battery. Rarely break out the Stihl or Echo petrol saws I have anymore unless it’s bigger or there is a lot to do. Even though a bit slower it’s just more pleasant without the fumes, noise and refuelling. 1/4 inch chain easy to sharpen if a little fiddly
  8. Have messaged him after also finding it impossible to report to eBay
  9. Wow - makes the one I have lined up for Monday look puny in comparison! Told them a year ago it needed to come down - do they ever listen? 😏
  10. Got to add that on a pretty hairy round trip today with the truck full of chip to deliver, getting almost blown over the white lines, that 90% of the trees lying in the road or resting on power lines were covered in ivy. Many were dead elms admittedly, but most of the others were field maples and conifers. Stopped to clear one with another fella that had a saw with him - no ivy on then field maple- was about 40cm dbh
  11. Four grand is a lot to pay for a tv!
  12. Had to do a couple of Sundays in a row at a doctors surgery as that’s the only day they didn’t have patients coming into the car park. Residential all around so I apologised to any neighbours I saw, explained the situation and they were good about it. Despite not finishing till around 6 each day, in the dark as it was February ☹️
  13. Thing is he doesn’t pick on anyone in particular- he does it to everyone, every race, class, colour, religion - no holds barred. We all know what he’s like so if easily offended then people can just turn off. Same with Roy chubby brown, Bernard manning, Jim Davidson, jethro and many others. I’ve met him on quite a few occasions when I was doing security and what a lovely guy, very humble, polite and totally different to his stage persona. each to there own of course, but I fear that non pc comedians will be slowly dropped from tv and gradually silenced
  14. Gotta work with what you’ve got - done stumps that size and bigger with 360sw. Hard going but needs must till funds allow purchase of bigger machine
  15. If they’re proper blunt it’s nigh on impossible to get a decent edge on them again. Put them in the scrap pile and price new ones into the jobs. Life’s too short to be messing about when they’re bad - I do sharpen if they’ve just lost their edge a bit
  16. Did the cs100 not produce good enough quality chips to offer to allotment holders, gardeners etc? not had to pay to tip for years but quality of what comes out of my jobeau m200 isn’t that great depending on what’s going through and the blades being proper sharp
  17. Predator is a rebadged Laski made in Czech Republic. Good grinders though - got the 360sw and an hb20 but also considering a bigger tracked or wheeled model
  18. Anything is possible given enough time and determination, but you’ll be knackered at the end of it! Done some huge stumps with my 14hp predator 360sw. Got a bandit hb20 as well now but not had a chance to use it on anything big yet to see how much quicker it will be.
  19. Wish you a speedy recovery! Rest up and don’t go back too soon - three ops to repair six so speaking from experience ☹️
