  1. For website design contact @Steve Bullman the owner of this site. as others have said - clear up properly. A large local firm did two jobs in my road for newly moved in people who didn’t ask neighbours for recommendations. The mess left in the road was appalling and no one here will touch them with a barge pole now
  2. So similar! My godfather was from the Gorbals and the similarity of some of his speaking with plat Deutsch (old north German dialect) that my mother could speak was uncanny. I’ve read that much of the connection was via the Hanseatic League which linked so many north European cities and the common language of the sailors who later settled in different towns
  3. My dad who was born in Germany always called them the German word Kiebitz which is kind of similar sounding to Peewit. Dutch is Kievit, so easy to see where our languages and words crossed over many years ago
  4. Pictures will help. Whichever option they choose, estimate how many loads of chip/logs then add 50% on top. even the most experienced of us get caught out on conifers and the amount of waste.
  5. Any properties on the nearby access roads got ring camera or cctv? Must have been a large vehicle to move it all?
  6. Nice little Bay down and ground out with the 360sw - about 36” across. Took the concrete edging out and reset it after - about 3 hrs in total. Need more easy jobs like this 👍
  7. About the same here - 5 days plus 2 a month cutting grass. Waiting on two tpo approvals that are way overdue so will chase up next week. for the first time in over 30 years I’ve put feelers out to expand the grass cutting round - never ever had to advertise so it’s a sure sign times are gonna get tough I think ☹️
  8. Had my 391 for about 6 years and it’s never missed a beat. Even ran a 25” bar from my 660 when that shot a piston mid cut in 30”oak stem. doesn’t get used that often, but for occasional use it’s done me proud. Found on gumtree for £275 with a horrendously sharpened chain, so scrapped that, had it serviced and been all good 👍
  9. So you’d like someone to cut it down for free? Doesn’t work like that I’m afraid. Stick some pictures up and you may get someone local give you a price to cut this down. Keep the wood, season it for five years plus and if you’ve been lucky enough to stop it splitting- list as as wood turning blanks on eBay. You may just about cover your costs or make a small profit - up to you to decide how much your time is worth
  10. Great idea, but it’s Bud 🤮🤮 if that or Fosters are the only beers left I’ll stick to tap water 👍
  11. Would be ok if free - certainly wouldn’t pay for any. Needs mixing in with decent hard/soft wood
  12. Can get tripod ladders up to 16ft with adjustable legs makes 17 1/2 ft. I have the 8ft and 14ft and they cover most bases. Still got my eye on the 16ft though as we always want bigger tools than we have! I use the fiskars loppers, silky hayauchi and 7.7m hayate, both with the sintung lopper head and saw
  13. Stabila and faithful are the two I’ve used for years without any problems at all
  14. I’m right handed and have a shortage of left gloves as they wear out quickest ☹️
  15. Wow - not much to be done with them now! Bet the “unmarked transit team” have already moved on
  16. I’m sure it has many fine attributes Mick, but no I shan’t be booking up.
  17. Another one I can’t listen to - voice just grates like Sara Cox ☹️
  18. Have a horizontal Alko, 4 or 5 ton that did me well for years. Now use a vertical Clarke 5 1/2 ton. Both good for doing own wood on a small scale but nowhere near good enough for commercial. Still use the Fiskars x25 and x27 mostly as far quicker on straight grained stuff
  19. Just comes up in general feed for me 👍
  20. Location will help! Add yourself to the tipsite and or contact local tree surgeons
  21. Got a few enquiries, nothing like as much as normal as would be booking for April usually. Got 8 full days confirmed and looking at a couple more quotes tomorrow. Grass cutting starting soon will add a day a month to begin with, then fortnightly soon enough. On a positive note I’m not stressed because I can’t keep up and getting a few jobs done at home 👍
