Some folk are just tight. Know the price of everything yet the value of nothing.

  3. That wagon and grab looks and is great! i've been looking at some wagons or some form of reducing manual handling where best as possible. Used a hiab the other week to remove a big beech stem, did it in 2 cuts and gone, great way! I passed through ingleton on monday aswell! could have popped in to say hi

  5. Agree on the 660 Have used a 661 a few weeks back felling on a 36" bar. It was a great saw! Do what you want and buy what you want, dont follow others
  6. Poor pdi or quality checks at gm then. I have thought recently about buying a gm, but who the dealers are really puts me off so i dont think i'll own one. Once bitten twice shy ty, you didnt buy it from same firm did you
  7. Doesnt make the look of taking someone on full time very appealing
  8. Ive considered several times getting a 550xp but i have an 026 which was near new when i got it last year. With a 15" bar on and full chisel chain they are a great saw.

I took a 026 as part payment from a job last year, old farmer had used it a couple of times then it had been under bench since, was mint with 2 chains. Been using it for a good year or so now. good old reliable saws

I once thought my compressor was duff. It was because i was trying it with the generator at the yard. Like you say they dont have the puff to get them going. Plug it in at home and happy days it works
  14. Just wondering what L.E.D lights people are running on the back of their trucks? Getting sick and tired of bulbs going and crappy connections etc Thanks in advance
  15. This video is not avaliable? On my iphone
  16. My same findings now. Its hard work finding the right person / staff
  17. Ive seen a couple snap at the front where the 'a' frame meets the chipper
  18. I meant asin people thinking above their stations. Groundies are usually 70-100 a day There are loads of lads out there wanting 110-130 a day. Prices are regional. Around here its over the top for just a brash dragger and chipper lad. When was the last time you used a subbie/freelance? Your lads an apprentice was/is and is also on the books. Subbie pay different
  19. Yup, then he starts having all the running costs of a proper business..... he may soon realise the grass isnt greener. If i go out and sub sometimes its great to have nothing to think about other than turn up and do the job and get paid!
  20. yup same here, use both hands and get on with it. also used to sharpen in chipper hopper when i had a fold down hopper
  21. At least your moving it on though Ian, Cant have it messing yard up and getting in the way. We've just got rid of X10 15t dump trailers of woodchip Wooohooooo
  22. The problem lies in this industry is that there are too many aeroplane pilots wanting too much kicking the arse out of the industry. They never realise that they are quiet because they want to much. There is a figure, different for each firm that they can afford to pay for different staff. I think your being generous at 100 a day if he cant rig etc Tell him just to turn up with his lunch and ppe / water proofs. get yourself another saw and get him to use it. Why pay him to use his saw. I think 125 is really taking the pee, and him being a friend and you a new start up means he's leaning on you a bit.... Call his bluff is say, he may well soon be back asking for work because it didnt work out lol
  23. Still considering going out but might just have to knock it on the head today gutted
  24. Not good! Snowing. Need to get accross to the m6 and north but not sure its going to happen
  25. 0% finance Andy
