  1. Over stood hazel, holly, alder and oak. Burning a large wheelbarrow full a day at the moment.
  2. You need planning for anything if the land is not residential. I know this from experience of my own battles with planners and our home which started as a caravan.
  3. Nothing. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-uzNBtdYOo]YouTube - Climategate is Still the Issue[/ame]
  4. See, it's the dumbing down of society, all part of the New World Order. Blame the Freemasons.
  5. I've been using the 88 today and this has got me wondering whether my Oregon wellies would be of any protection from that thing?
  6. Get yourself a shave horse, a drawknife and some large oak butts to split with a sledge and wedges. Now make a load of seven foot five rail gates and the weight will fall off you. Works for me (38).
  7. I tried burning green oak at the end of last winter (when I ran out of dry stuff). Utterly miserable experience and it tarred up the chimney, not inside but right at the top under the cowling. There was this big doughnut of black sh*t causing the stove to smoke when I opened the door. Never had that problem when burning dry wood.
  8. Fitted my own boiler stove. It does hot water, radiators and under floor heating. I put a thermosyphon radiator in so if there's a power cut it doesn't boil to readily. The main problem is that the fire box is kept cool which makes the combustion a bit inefficient.
  9. The AEC looks like hard work in all respects.
  10. "Caroline Spelman, the Environment Secretary, is expected to announce plans within days to dispose of about half of the 748,000 hectares of woodland overseen by the Forestry Commission by 2020. The controversial decision will pave the way for a huge expansion in the number of Center Parcs-style holiday villages, golf courses, adventure sites and commercial logging operations throughout Britain as land is sold to private companies. " Ministers plan huge sell off of Britain's forests - Telegraph
  11. Don't be bullied. Bollox to him.
  12. It's worth doing even if it doesn't lead to a job. You'll never regret learning.
  13. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri3dGo7BZVM]YouTube - The Significance of Monetary Reform: The Disaster of Debt Based Economics [1 of 5][/ame] Effects all of us so I thought relevant.
  14. I started using the Oregon File Guide when I found one at a boot sale for £1. Wouldn't be without it now.
  15. The whole property binge of the past decade is pretty sickening really.
  16. I use sisal rope to make rope latches to go with my gates and fencing. Are you selling?
  17. Are they straight-ish grained and relatively knot free? I do a lot of cleft oak stuff.
  18. For that money you could get a nice 80 series Land Cruiser. Mine is a '94 and just sailed through the MOT. I did the big end bearings as a precaution at 140k but they looked normal, i sleep better as a result. I had my 16' ifor on the back today to collect some stone. 3400kg first weigh, guy on the loader got a bit carried away, second weigh 7020kg! Pulled it like it wasn't there. Tow bar rated at 3500kg, 165hp, 27mpg, front, rear and center diff locks. It's the bollox!
  19. Rob, the second link pic looks exactly the same as the one I got from ebay.
  20. Amen to that!
  21. I've bought the 880 filter on ebay. Looks well made but I'm sure it will compromise the power, we'll see.
  22. Mint! Did you use a mortising machine?
  23. You blow minds for a living! Incredible.
  24. "..very clever constructive dismissal." I'm intrigued. A similar thing happened to me two years ago - well paid job with perks. Much happier now. You'll be fine. Good luck.
  25. that saw needs a trained operator, to bin it and buy one with a chain brake.
