  1. About £70 m3 for the oak.
  2. I ignore manufacturers efficiency claims, and the "airwash" clear glass nonsense. You gotta have the fire at 700C for max efficiency, 20% moisture content in the wood. The only one I've come across to live up to their claim was the ClearView Vision 500.
  3. I did our living room with T&G boards from Wickes, the cheapest you can get, and over wet under floor heating. They bent like half pipes! Three years on and untreated they look better than the thicker, more expensive reclaimed boards I used in our bedroom.
  4. Try cooking fish the same way with lemon and butter - can't beat it.
  5. Go on treat yourself, you know you're worth it. The sight of that has really tarnished my Sunday morning, thanks:bawling:
  6. Me too. The 880 with 48" is a heavy machine!
  7. I thinks it more about using the ladder on subsequent cuts. I know I struggle guiding the mill off and making a clean job of it.
  8. I've got one of these from Grey Metal Stoves. £510 inc vat. had it three years now. Has 5kW boiler, 10kW total. It's a convection stove so the side panels stay cool. It's very well built and burns all night if you fill it right up. The other stove I've got came from the same place, got an oven in the top. It was cheaper but the construction not so good. Worth a look. Stoves
  9. Nice one Bob! I just Googled you.
  10. I was toying with the idea of a 100 series, but I couldn't help wondering if I would own the car or the car would end up owning me - if you know what I mean. So I bought an 80.
  11. Yes it does, but it's far better than a 60 grit disc in my opinion. I clean it with rotary wire brush on a drill.
  12. Yep that's the one.
  13. I use an angle grinder with a Galahad disc from an American company called King Arthur Tools. They have a new one out called the Holey Galahad, which as the name suggests is full of holes so you can see what you're doing on the surface. I've not found anything better than these products, they're exceptional quality. Cost about £60 each though but worth it I reckon.
  14. I'd imagine it's quite a labour and capital intensive business. Are you thinking of doing out buildings, garages, summer houses, etc?
  15. Ladder and bent nails, luxury! I'm using a plank! The Granberg EZ rails look good. Anyone use them?
  16. Have you done much framing Rob?
  17. Burn it I expect. Sorry, couldn't resist Nice work there Big J!
  18. Made something from my first bits of milling. A new shave horse. The old one was too unkind on my backside.
  19. Congratulations! It a lovely feeling innit. I've got three under five, two girls and a boy. happy days!
  20. I paid £2800 for my 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser. It's 4.2 diesel, has eight seats and will tow 3.5 tonnes. It also has front and rear diff locks. It will do 27mpg if you drive nicely. Oh, and they don't rust. Just make sure you get the big end shells changed if you buy a <94. Bits cost £60 from Milner and takes about three hours.
  21. ...so if you're in Devon and you've got 24"+ oak butts to exchange for cash let me know.
  22. It's now attached to a 48" Alaskan mill. I think that's what it was built for.
  23. I've never done a cross cut with my 880.
  24. customer's always right I guess:001_rolleyes:
