  1. Exactly! The only way I could see it working would be with oak, the sapwood removed.
  2. What type of wood?
  3. How could you refuse?
  4. Nice! Does anyone else wonder what the net energy of the firewood is after using this kind of processor?
  5. Incredible! How long did it take?
  6. Don't put anything on it, except maybe some veg oil. I don't use any preservative on any of my outdoor stuff - hate it. But that's just me I guess.
  7. Sound like you're in one of my fields. Mole plough it into something that will take the water away, like to a ditch or river bank. If you're not gonna drive a tractor over it or keep cattle on it the mole drains will last much longer.
  8. Too late now, birds nesting, etc. What type of hedge?
  9. Beautiful!
  10. Lovely bench. Great design.
  11. Had my first play with my new 48" supplied by Rob. Milled some oak. New ripping chain and ms880. Worked well. Surprisingly little effort required, saw pulled itself through almost. Lots to learn now. I'll post some pics when I get more proficient.
  12. I'm on clay. We add lime and sand to make the soil workable. Mole ploughing works well if you're not driving over it constantly, you have to redo it every few years. No substitute for proper drains in my opinion. Clay pipes, ditches, etc, all over our land. That perforated plastic stuff works OK if there's enough of a drop, otherwise it silts in no time. The problem is the layer below the topsoil which is compacted clay. This is what the water can't get through. Adding lime and sand just makes the top soil workable, it don't get down to the sub soil, so during heavy rain it fills up.
  13. Sounds like a prop uj to me.
  14. Anyone wanna buy my saws?
  15. When I was working for a major breakdown service (yellow van:wink:), used to see it quite often, that and non start, no fuel at injectors. As someone else said, crank pulley breaking up too.
  16. They get head gasket trouble.
  17. Thanks, your chair too. I've been told there's coppice near Holden.
  18. Is the grain pretty straight? Where you to?
  19. I'm in Mid Devon and have the same problem.
  20. there's a piece of kit that runs from a compressor, sucks the oil out through the dip stick. Some garage speed merchants use them.
  21. Think I might ask him to do the cam belt on my V6 Vectra.
  22. 1. The file guide is on the wrong way round... 2. ...so there's no back stop. 3. He's using the file backward so it's not cutting. 4. The T-bars aren't holding the chain. 5. He's listening for the chain stop click when it should be behind the cutter he's filing. Now the file is pushing the cutter away, not that it matters cos he's not even using the file the right way round... 6....
