  1. I've got a 12kW wood burner with back boiler connected to hot water cylinder and about 40 meters of Radipex pipe I got off Ebay for peanuts. I've raised the floor level on 25/50 battens with the pipe running up and down between them, then laid t&g floorboards over. An electric CH pump and pipe stat control the flow. When I first used it the boards curled up like half pipes:blushing: but they're all good now:thumbup1: Nice to have warm feet and gives a uniform temperature through the place.
  2. I've put under floor heating in mine, runs off the wood burner and makes all the difference.
  3. Don't knock it until you've tried it. I've spent my entire adult life in mobile homes, and now raise a family in one, although it's got a few add-ons now:blushing:
  4. I was lucky enough to find a 1945 S&J Kitchen bill hook at a boot sale for a quid. It's got the British Army arrow stamp and a weighted nose, which I'm told all the army bull hooks had. The weight allows you to swing a heavy blow just where the blade starts to curve. Holds a mean edge but i did have to grind the bevels down.
  5. About 1-2". Yes, it surprised me to discover this. I drove some sticks in, to support a cord, and found them sprouting a few weeks later.
  6. Great post! As well as layering I've put newly cut hazel rods in the ground about mid March and some have taken like willow.
  7. Be quicker, more efficient and safer with a hand saw. Why bother?
  8. That sucks! Were you lifting something heavy when it went?
  9. Yep! It's great for building with. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Thing is, SC does grow fine on clay for small diameter. There's a few mature trees in the woods next to ours, we collect the nuts. I'm seriously considering planting a load on our land, it's such a resource as round poles.
  10. Thanks for the plug! Hi Garth, PM me or email [email protected]
  11. Really nice work Digga! I do a few SC hurdles for "second home owner" types down here in Devon:001_cool: I just wish there was more SC growing round these parts. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  12. You're not far from me. I've got no use for the turkey but I'm always looking for english oak and sweet chestnut. I can collect/mill-up from site.
  13. I don't know what I'm gonna do when I break. I hate indoors.
  14. I've got one of these in bits if anyone wants spares. I've sold all the implements to a guy in France.
  15. I've got a pair of these for sale. They are hand forged from one piece of approx 22mm steel bar that came from a prewar railway carriage. They're about 23" long with 5" chisels at 90 degrees to each other. Wax finish. I'm open to offers but bear in mind Granfors are about £80 a pair and other hand forged ones are not as heavy. 16. Did you know that 25% of the Chinese economy is counterfeit goods, including medicines without the active ingredient ( malaria vaccine, for example), and precursor chemicals for narcotic production. They also execute more of their own citizens than any other nation on Earth. And when we buy their cheap junk they use the money to build nuclear missiles capable of hitting us.
  17. Ask to be paid in silver or gold as Sterling is being inflated to toilet paper status by our useless central bank.
  18. I tried it 10 years ago. Went out there with a job lined up on the skills list sponsorship scheme. Not my cup of tea but I would encourage anyone to go and have a look, you'll not regret it.
  19. Stick all the stuff you don't want on ebay, especially any branded clothes, shoes, tools, etc. You'll be amazed what some stuff fetches. Just speaking from experience.
  20. I scared off three deer nibbling around our hazel copse this morning. Inspected the damage and found green buds with one about to open!
  21. I hadn't thought of that. I was think Devon County Show type thing:blushing: Good idea....write that down.
  22. LOL! My earliest memories include sticking them into my mums book.
