From what I hear 550's are thin on the ground at the moment from the dealers. -

Tried them, not for me. I stick with the proven brands Oregon or Stihl.

Chain adjuster as you says goes in one of the larger pair of holes. Small hole is for oil feed to chain, you say its on bottom of bar, it will be on outside(away from engine side) as its corresponding pair will be on inside at top. Tension hole and oil feed hole are duplicated to allow bar to be turned over to even out wear.

Agree 661 up a tree normal, anything bigger is brutal on the body, but sometimes needs must.

Not many trees in UK you cant do with 661. Ringing up is a different matter
