Picked up a TD5 Discovery2 04 plate mot failure for £400, bit of welding jobs a good un. -

Depends if its only on your site or needs to be road legal. If not road legal get a MOT failure such as discovery diesel, some off road tyres, bash it up, enjoy and run on red diesel. -

Never done them, even when I used to winter climbing. Just climb body condition comes with it and I am 60 as well. Use modern techniques as it makes your life easier, even as you say they make you feel less secure/ at ease. spiderjacks/zigzags/akimbo/rope wrench/ rope runners etc use them your body will thankyou.

Used one site, dropped off about 12t of conni chip, excellent, but according to owner I am only one that's been in touch. Worked for me, saved dragging it back 40 miles each way.
