  1. Probably the one that blocked the suez canal, that was caused by a gust of wind.
  2. I would imagine sawlogs Andy as he mentions taper in his other post and I would hope your milled wood would not taper as much as 10cm along the length.
  3. Use a separate rope prussiced onto lowering line to add tension or raise load. separate ropes for each operation. May only need a 5-6m rope as a winch rope.
  4. Bump, Another Job coming up next week, any new ideas/ contacts. Timber and chip each day Tuesday- Friday 22nd-25th Feb. Thanks
  5. The dealers Andy. HAKKI PILKE FIREWOOD PROCESSORS AND BILKE FIREWOOD PROCESSORS | HAKKI PILKE | BILKE | EAGLE | OH27 | EXPERT 30 | EXPERT 37 | 1X37 | EASY 38 | EASY 42 | EASY 50 | CARRY 25 | HAWK | BILKE S3 | BILKE S3 ELECTRIC | BILKE S3 KULKURI (mlarge.com)
  6. If they were Limousin cattle, they are right mad f...ers, never trust them. Mind you worked with some nasty Friesian bulls. Cows with new born calves can be very unpredictable.
  7. Plus 2, on my second one, 1st one lasted 30+ yrs
  8. Only happens when on the back of a recovery truck.
  9. Yep used a 8200hst in the 90's as well with an undeslung mower. also had bispeed turn. Good machine
  10. Had it for 10 yrs mind. Little Kubota as well B6100, with snow plough £1500. Both very useful.
  11. Mine cost me £1200 even more of a bargain.
  12. 0 would be minimum mileage I would hope for, but difficult to achieve......
  13. That's what I thought as well.
  14. Greenclimber or 8t slew with mulching head for scrub grassy areas. Fell trees and chip arisings back onto site is the plan. We did 5 miles last November over the existing line that way.
  15. Its Council ground, old waste tip 3/4 mile long by 30m wide. Natural regen trees up to 40ft, rough grass areas and gorse.
  16. Thanks to you both, that clarifies things somewhat. Basically, check for nests if none rock on, checking all time for nests as you work through the site.
  17. Not many mines either, that are still working, I hasten to add.
  18. Question for the masses? I am looking at a job next week for SGN in Scotland. Basically Transport Scotland are replacing a main roundabout with a flyover and roundabout, problem is the gas main runs alongside (about 8m away) the existing road, before work on the road commences the gas main needs to be moved. The main is to be moved parallel to existing main into an area of scrub and trees. I have been look at the job of clearing areas to enable boreholes and test pits to be dug. As this is infrastructure works is it exempt from felling licence or not?, there will probably be more than 5 cube of timber, and a lot more if they clear the entire working area 30m centered over the pipeline. They want it done before bird nesting, which is not going to happen so it will have to wait until August
  19. And have a hot water feed, everything else is cold only, which grates when you have shed loads of hot water from the rayburn.
  20. Got some Poplars to look at near Fordyce to fell, if they are still standing after today.
  21. Not good to hear, We lost a big old Ash last blow, milled into some nice olive ash boards.
  22. Tacho driven by cable, so easy to check if driving up to tacho or not. Process of elimination.
