  1. I zip clipped my gate permanently open to make it that little bit easier to use,as i have a touch of rhumetism in my right hand, and every little helps.
  2. Depends on how hard they work, and how long the day is. £10 an hour plus if they're draggin and chipping all day. Considerably less if they spend a lot of time rolling fags up,or stand chatting to the customers half dressed teenage daughter for long periods of time.
  3. Who was that transvestite, i saw you with last night? That was no transvestite, that was my wife.

  6. young friend of mine has not had a call in 3 weeks. He advertises heavily, employes a groundie as and when, has old but well maintained kit,and works his socks off when he does win some work. So when that long awaited call comes to price up a days job for two, will he quote £300 and hope to get it,or say £500 take it or leave it mrs?

  14. Tell them to dip each log in a pail of water before throwing it on fire.
  15. The client is asking Dave for a day rate,so normally that doesn't mean getting the biggest plant in and doing it all in a day. All cord and logs left on site,so lot ground saw work, and only 'top & lop' to be burnt up.
  16. With only two of you,ide allow 2 weeks. Ime sweating just looking at it.
  17. Checked in at the honeymooners hotel were 3 couples, and towards the end of the evening Tom Dick and Harry happened to all be at the bar, away from their ladies for a moment. They got chatting, and of course ended up talking about the impending activities, and with this in mind decided that the 3 couples would sit together over breakfast. Next morning old Tom started off and dropped just 1 sugar cube in his tea and stirred it up,middle aged Dick meanwhile reached for the sugar bowl and dropped 3 lumps in his cuppa. Young Harry then picked up the sugar spoon and glumly threw it straight in the pot of raspberry jam.
  18. You're not wrong there Felix.
  19. Born to my daughter at lunchtime,Charlie Reggie 9 lb 6 oz opted for water birth. Her husband,in navy, rushed from plymouth to kings lynn and arrived just in time. On the ward she's had the biggest baby in the shortest time, off to see him tonight, then may have a cider when i get back.

  21. Minus 12 here last night, 4" snow on the ground. So cold in my workshop i brought the 460 indoors to clean it up and sharpen after yesterday. Mrs Oldwoodcutter keepin a sharp lookout out for any mess on the carpet.
  22. Saw one for first time clearing up on a couple of fc compartments at Cockley Cley last year.
  23. From the cord drivers ive shared a minute with at rideside who do it day in,day out,ide say they realy do earn their money, specialy when you compare their work to say those that haul pallets of corn flakes around. Their work is tough and rough, looking like they havnt slept in a proper bed for days, worn out, tired out, with a bought sandwich in one hand and the wheel in the other, pressing on,or sitting on that grapple in the pouring rain, early starts late finishes - whatever they get they earn it.
  24. Was talking to a lad the other day who worked for a contractor last year cutting roadside verges with a tractor and reach mower. He told me that his employer had given him strict instructions that if a passing car complained that he'd just thrown up a stone,to deny any liability whatsoever.
  25. Sorry to hear of your loss mate, just getting worse,i sleep with my head 6" from the window looking out onto my front yard, and as i have to get up a couple of times a night for a leak,i always have a quick shufty out over my back yard while ime up. Hope you get some of it back.
