    job

I honestly think you should stick to being a groundsman for now and try and climb when you can. Getting your ticket doesn't mean you will be the worlds best climber in a week. Nor will it mean you will be climbing every day. I have had my ticket for over 3 years and still don't climb every day!
  2. I never thought mine was cheaply made or flimsy. When you've finished cutting in between a few pieces do you drop it or lower it or place it straight on the clip?
  3. I've done 10 and 12" with mine. Just! Really not suited for those cuts at all
  4. If the cs100 had a single feed roller it would be a brilliant bit of kit. Would make a massive difference and you wouldn't need to learn the knack for feeding it.
  5. Surely that's a candidate for the load handler? Would save plenty digging
  6. I filled my truck with my cs100 today. Less than an hour of chipping in all. Conifer and cherry. It's got a bent chute as it fell of the trailer a few months ago so it fires towards one side of the truck, still the middle Ish. But I'm still made up with it. Has a brilliant chip throw. Haven't used it a great deal but It is always a great chipper to use!
  7. More importantly, Did she swallow?
  8. Definitely expensive. £95 inc vat I paid for a 25" 3/8 chain. That one hurt! Then I didn't even need it!
  9. Two of us yesterday all day strimming this banking. At its widest it was 10 strimmer widths and that accounts for about 2/3 of its length. 150/200m ish? Its at the back of a white spirit plant so all the long grass we've cut has to come away. I spent all day today with a br600 blowing the grass on the flat bit at the top and half way down the biggest bank. 8 litres of fuel yesterday and 6 litres today.
  10. If the money's in the job buy a carbide chain
  11. Congrats It's a good feeling! Well done!
  12. for 2.50 for 5 you cant go wrong 40x20mm, bit smaller, can buy a pack of 10 here Edelrid Micro 0 Karabiner
  13. heres some of the edelrid ones, not as cheap as the ones tony suggested Edelrid Aranya Accessory Krab £3.50 | Carabiners | Rock + Run
  14. Aranya | EDELRID Safety theres some small ones, 70mmx40mm
  15. im sure i saw some small carabiners at a show, rated to 150kg, these were tiny, similar size to those small stein ones. I think they were at jonesies but i could be wrong. Looked mighty handy. Sorry cant remember what make they were. edelrid? idk
  16. Looks like an Australian import
  17. I went to the one In burscough this morning. Few tool sellers, phone case sellers, meat wagon. And mostly odds and sods. To me it wasnt so much a collection of items it was more a stockpile of rubbish! Wasnt much there I could see that was useful.
  18. I use gaff guards now. Was meaning to for ages then managed to stick a spike through one of my NF bags. I would have rather spiked my leg! Haha. A waterproof bag is a must. If its bad enough you could always use it as an umbrella to keep you dry for a bit.
  19. I use the medium base camp duffle bags from north face. Not cheap but certainly hard wearing. Plenty of room for all my kit and I keep my rope in a bag seperate.
  20. Is this one of those thoughts that cross your mind when your eating breakfast? I reckon its down to scent. The female probably uses some nice perfume or something
  21. I have a sugoi and would prefer to use that to a 200t on reductions. Now I use the 150. It's a perfect substitute. Silky comes out more often to reach branches than to cut anything!
  22. I still love my 150. Perfect for dismantling conifers! Mine didn't seem to have as much punt today as usual. Just seemed half asleep. Wouldn't hold it's power through cuts. Anyone else noticed that?
  23. Probably for grinding all the stumps from the trees being removed for that new rail link
  24. If you wanted a fixed D why didn't you buy a petzl Navaho? They are used a in rope access. The I'd is a good idea as it is fail safe but its not best suited to the purpose you want. If you want mechanical and simple. Get a lock jack. The pear mallions and rigging plate is, IMO, way unnecessary. You are restricting the harness and yourself. Get out to a branch tip where your rope wants to go round your side under your arm I'd rather have a bridge and a small bit of metal that lies flat against me rather than two bits of steel and an even chunkier rigging plate stuck in my abdomen. But What do we know!
  25. Very OTT IMO. All you need is one main line and a side strop in the majority of trees. Anything extra is a headache keeping it all tidy. Why so much kit? Is it a trust issue? With the tree of the equipment itself?
