  1. Bandit 1590xp. In bright orange.
  2. Two large cavities on the same tree. The first one was taken off a long time ago and left the tree unbalanced. The second one was probably taken at the same time. There's roughly 3" of residual wall left around that wound. Needs some attention methinks!
  3. I can imagine. I want to buy some of these in depth books but the cost is just unjustifiable! I really hope its not gone missing. It was a good book!
  4. This shouldn't have gone missing. I had it for a bit and posted it to NI Tree a shirt while ago so it should be in his possession afaik!
  5. I said I'm a little rusty. I've not had much chance to keep myself in tune! I understand that. I didn't expect it to be as well preserved as it was on the side. I had found some old Fistulina brackets. They were next to the first tree in the set of pics. It would explain the different appearance of the stem. Although it seem that the features we were looking at on oaks last year were normally pushed up the stem but the burrs on that one are around the base even in the presence of competition from I. dryadeus.
  6. Cheers Tony I hadn't given a huge amount of thought to species other than it was a Ganoderma. I was half hungover from the wedding party the night before and wanted the shots before I left. Now that I am thinking about it. resinaceum probably would have sprung to mind. Although I thought that resi was an annual bracket? Or is that lucidum? Mainly because of the previous seasons fruiting still being on the stem.
  7. I. dryadeus on some oaks at Carden Park, Chester. Another oak with bodies emerging. Ganodermas? I'm getting a bit rusty with some now! Need to get out more to get back into it! Another one that's a bit debateable. Is there a set if brackets in the cavity at the base of this oak? Bit pic heavy. I was like a kid in a candy shop driving past all these!
  8. Not the greatest pic. Look like a Mycena or Coprinus species. Saprophyte feeding on dead wood.
  9. This is a start! Flail could easily be a stump grinder as I would imagine they need similar flow rates!
  10. Just at a country park in Chester. The access road was lined by many well mature oaks and some had some good I. Dryadeus brackets. Watch this space ill get some pics
  11. I think they are 3t for towing. The plate on it should tell you. Can't remember what mine says! Looks smart with a tipper body.
  12. Did he have an Irish accent?
  13. Not a chance! After having a bit of a drive after the wheel bearings were sorted and its brilliant. Like a different car. Much more solid and less rattly! Just have to chase out an ABS issue and get the engine oil changed soon and that'll keep me sorted for a bit!
  14. +1 Hire a couple extra cutters to flatten the lot before the chains and picket signs turn up
  15. if your worried about mpg on a l/r, dont look at a l/r. the d4 we had on borrow for a few days had 5 days of generally being booted around like it wasnt ours, because it wasnt, and was getting 25mpg. thats over 500 miles. my disco 300tdi with the pump played with will probably dream about 25mpg, dads 2.4tdci defender carrying a couple hundred kgs minimum at any time and up to about a ton plus a trailer will be lucky for 20. driving 'empty' with no water or trailer would still only see 300-350 miles out of £90 of diesel.
  16. i had my P gasket fixed today, a new one was last put on in september i think, a britpart one, it had perished not long after, in january i was seeing coolant loss issues, ive finally got round to sorting it as it was getting more regular, i had a loose wheel bearing which was causing brake issues thats now been sorted took it to holgate land rover in orrel and they charged me £90 all in including parts which was brake pads and a P gasket which is only cheap and a couple hours labour. Ill be going back there!
  17. Sure? I've seen some people mention 'Oak' trees too?
  18. The best type of job is a through the house job. Points are scored for the amount of tins of wd40, paint and other misc items you can knock off the shelves going through the kitchen, utility room and garage. Those are the types of jobs you put a silly price on to try and price out of it. But end up getting it anyway. (Story of Saturdays job!)
  19. Is it not better to use something like a solvent such as petrol or bleach to clean the colour out?
  20. I drive across a field for fun every once in a while, can I register my truck for ag and run it on red?
  21. What's wrong with the Landy?
  22. Only if you muck it up or don't set it right with the diaphragm, star wheel and 'smoke screw' on the top all done together. I've got mine set quite high. It's a dream to drive and only the odd little puff of black smoke setting off or when trying to accelerate hard from low revs
  23. I've got a weeks experience and a friend who likes to walk around some botanical gardens can I be a full time climber on £600/week please?
  24. This has been sorted now. Thanks for the calls.
  25. Did the centre silencer make much difference noise wise? How does it do for the performance? If you tweaked all of the pump correctly you'll see pre-turbo pickup a bit better. Do it as not set it matched with each component will see lots of black smoke = too much fuel. I get some pulling off quickly in first but ideally your looking for a bit of haze under full load acceleration. The pump tweak really brings the 300tdi to life.
